Any Complaints (hopefully all minor)

NJ should do like all other states and let us pump our own gas. No need for the Full Service to be honest.

It is nice on those bitter, cold and wet winter days though ;) And the irony is, it's cheaper for me to get gas in full-service NJ than in self-serve PA, at least here north of Philadelphia.

Had that problem (left corner of seat cushion gets loose).Take it to dealer, they have to order and replace few clips

Only had my CX-5 four days and noticed that the drivers side mirror vibrates when going down the road. Took it to the dealer today late and they would call me back after they talk to headquarters in California. Seems like the mirror should be replace due to faulty installation.

It is a well known issue for the car. There is supposedly a tsb in the works for it.

The buckle for the middle rear passenger is on the wrong side. The middle passenger should buckle on the driver's side of the car. If you put a child booster seat there you have to go around to the other side of the car to buckle it each time. That's a Pain-In-The-Butt. If it's on the same side as the driver you can put the child in and buckle the seat close the door then get in and drive without walking back around the vehicle, it's faster and safer.

It's fine on the right hand drive models! :-)

Random rant.. another issue I have is not the CX-5 itself but these damn gas station attendants who take off the gas cap and slam it on the side of the body. I yelled at 4-5 guys already, there's a damn gas cap holder right on the lid put it there..
Hey Gio, I filled up today and I was watching the guy - he put the cap exactly in the cap holder space provided. However, I still got out of the car just to make sure - and I noticed this: the cap is actually attached on a short rubber string, and it cannot be put anywhere else on the car, it won't reach. So my suggestion is check the gas cap area, maybe it is possible your rubber cap "leash" got detached?.. Just a thought :)

:D sorry for getting you paranoid over this lol (lol2) no no the little plastic thingy is in place but when they open it and just fling it out it does hit the side of the car, that's what annoys me. Glad your guy knew what he was doing (not that it's rocket science :D ) or he cares for people's property.

LOL!! oh no, not paranoid at all, I like things clean and looking nice, so I am actually thankful! :)

Wish if the Sport trim with the Bluetooth/ color monitor package had the existing wires, video input and slot for installing an OEM backup camera...oh well.

Can hear the fuel in the gas tank sloshing around when moving at low speeds, like backing up.

Driver side mirror vibrates - I know about the upcoming TSB

No automatic close for moonroof.

Trunk floor liner does not "lock" so when driving over bumps, it tends to "jump" and create noise.

Hi all. New to this forum. Great thread. Looking to replace my 07 Rav4. Finished reading this thread and glad to say the CX5 is still on my short list. All minor complaints considering. Feel for those unhappy owners, but most of what I have read doesn't worry me. Plus it gives me some specifics to look for when I test drive, and or take delivery. Glad to see a lot of loyal Mazda owners, and that Mazda N.A. seems to be doing there job trying to address issues.

That has been one of my major concerns. I bought a new B2000 back in 85 that was great except for rust. All the new tech in the CX5 has me still shoppin/reserching the CX5 rather than parking one at my home. :) Mazda N.A. had gotten a bad rap in the past which was starnge compared to much of Mazda Europe. So glad to see this looks like it is being addressed.

My biggest concerns right now is the thinner steel, and the high compression. Luckily I am still 2 to 4 months from making my decision, any of you more mechanical types (I'm not) care to give an opinion how these two items may fair over the long haul (5yrs/100k miles)
Thanks
Ray

So far mine is going well except from the rattle I am having from the dash.....first rattle was fixed but traded for another rattle. Details in another post. Lucky for me I like to have the stereo on so it is not really a big deal....but i want it fixed none the less. I did notice the material coming loose from the seat a bit but I was able to tuck it back in. I will keep in eye on to make sure it does not get worse.

The rearview camera is difficult to view in rain, as raindrops accumulate on the lens. Someone needs to invent a shroud or something for it. Or a really, really tiny wiper lol...

i wonder if applying some rain-x would help any?

it's annoying in rain, have to clean it all the time. On the positive side, you have parking sensor + camera (unlike some cars having camera only - Murano), so not a big deal.

Also, I know CX-5 wasn't meant to be a real off-roader, but I don't like that cheap silver plastic that mimics steal/metal underbody protection. They should have put real aluminium plates instead of painted plastic.

Cheers,
Miki

The US models don't have parking sensors, istop, lane change alert, or that really cool feature where the car stops itself if some moron steps out on the road unexpectedly. I got the fully loaded model and don't have any of these features unfortunately.

I see... well if's any consolation I have disabled istop from day one (annoyed me several times on parking lot while looking for parking space) Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is nice, though it can be irritating over time (especially in roundabouts where they have so many lines drawn), so I disabled it as well. What I really like is RVM and SCBS (smart city brake support), SCBS has saved me once already! Amazing tech!

Cheers,
Miki

Makes sense, and I was about to give it a try, but now I read in the manual:
"The camera cover is made of plastic. Do not apply degreasing agents, organic
solvents, wax, or glass coating agents to the camera cover. If any are spilled on
the cover, wipe off with a soft cloth immediately."

So now I'd hesitate to use RainX, as I'm guessing it's meant for glass...
