Suspension Noise

I know it's kind of vague and so forth but here's a better explaination.

So when i turn my steering wheel all the way to the right then turn it back to the left very slightly, I get a kind of...clunking/rubbing noise. Upon further inspection, I see that the spring turns with the perch and strut assembly like normal, but when I turn it back to the left it seems that the spring gets caught or struggles as you might say and the noise comes from the spring "springing" back into place.

I got my car back today from a spring install. I have my stock springs in my trunk. I really hate letting other people touch my car. But in this case, I had no choice as it was a spring test fit for a company and they had my car for the whole day. Now I know I can contact them and have them fix or remedy it, but they're not close to my work and I don't feel like giving up my car for another day. Any suggestions as to what it might be?

Maybe it's missing a spring seat? or maybe it needs to be greased?

When I put my Springs on I didn't Index right and had to reseat them. When we did my friends fiesta we didn't tighten end links both resulted in the described noise. I would take off front wheels first and check end links they are very easy to leave loose. There is a nut behind you have to hold on inboard side while tightening the nut on outboard side.

I also am getting this noise when doing the same exact motion. Definitely gonna check what was mentioned.

Its weird though, it didn't happen at first. Only after the alignment, and driving for a while. :-\

By the way, new here. Lurked for a while, but finally participating lol. So, (hi)

yeah ill check the end links or have Megan check them out for me. this is the first time I've let someone else touch my car for anything as minor as a spring install...and now I'm regretting it. the car looks great dropped on Megan racing springs though...pictures to come

Yeah parts will loosen after awhile especially if not tightened correctly. Funny thing is it may sound like the driver side but it could be telegraphing from passenger side or vise versa.
So definately check both.

the noise has gone away since Wednesday. But i get clunking when going over bumps. The only way I don't get noise is if i creep over the speed bump which i normally do anyways. I started going over them a bit quicker to reproduce the sound and make sure that it was really there.

I'm giving it over the weekend to maybe settle in some more. If not, then I'll grab install instructions from someone else and take it apart myself, or take up Megan on their offer to send it back in since it was their doing in the first place.

so...the noise when turning has subsided after settling in the springs over 800-900 miles. The clunk when going over bumps is still there.

The clunk only happens if I go over the bump too fast. But too fast is maybe 1 MPH faster than literally creeping over the bump.

They've said that maybe the front springs are 1 coil too short. And thats why they test fit.

Can anyone with H&R springs or Racing Beat springs please take a picture of their springs with either one of their wheels off? Or even, do you have pictures of the springs out of the box?

I'd really appreciate it.

The only other solution they had was to rotate my top hat which they'll do next weekend if the sound persists.

This will make a clunking if not tightened correctly.

thank you ryno. It's really appreciated.

we've already inspected the top nut and all the strut tower bolts for tightness. As well as the sway bar end links. I'll forward the pictures to them. once again i really appreciate it

No problem if that dosen't work it may be they did not index them correctly. There are alighnment holes on top and bottom perches.
