Put on inno rack yesterday, 58" crossbars. If you want to use the larger bike racks (that keep both wheels on the bike) and mount them outboard of the towers, you'll need to order 65" crossbars. I'm going to see if I can swap out for the larger ones from ors where I made the purchase.

I've seen a lot of Inno ski attachments this past winter. It seems very well made, congrats on the selection!

Its definately well-made, and I'd even say over-built. The fairing is absolutely bonkers. Got the new crossbars in today...perfect fit. Though I've gotta say subarus look much better with roof racks than mazdas.

And Diesel - if you don't need a third row, just do what I did and swap wrx/sti stuff into a forester. Basically a wrx/sti that holds more stuff! Although the gas mileage sucks which is why I sold mine. Swaps also get expensive...but definately worth it.

I do need the 3rd row seating as I have 3 kids. So single row cars don't do it for me. Although we do have the CX9 which we could use, trying not to put mileage on it at least for another year or so. Mazda5, with all the modification, is basically no different than the Honda Odyssey Touring we've had before we traded in; except it's smaller. But, in retrospect, we did not like the inconvenience of such large vehicle which is always a challenge finding parking, and oh yeah, one of the main reason we did not like the Odyssey is the PAX tire fiasco. We will never go back to Honda as it has been an ordeal with PAX run flats; especially way Honda treated us like third class citizens.

I refuse to drive a 3 row vehicle just because of the kids. If we all want to go somewhere, we take my wife's 5 (she doesn't mind larger vehicles). I've stuffed 3 adults and 2 kids in child seats into my mazda2 on multiple occasions, and if I had drive 3 kids around instead of 2 I'd still have the two. Better on gas, and does well at auto-x.

Back on topic:
I installed a 2" antenna from torque solution ($10 on ebay) and now the antenna comes up to just below the roof rack and is out of the way. As a bonus the OEM antenna from the 5 is now on my 2 (replaces the insanely long wobbly antenna that came stock).

Do you have a link for the antenna?

Yeah I hear you on that. I do like the Subby but now my brother just scared me about the WRX saying it's a gas guzzler. Also, only premium is recommended. Most turbo cars seems to prefer Premium only like the MS3 which is another car that I like.

We'll see where I go with this in a few years. Do want to get something more sporty and something that's also good on gas. Mazda just had an event at my job for the dealers, showing off their new CX5 which is also something that I like due to Skyactiv and AWD. I may consider that as well in a few years.

I averaged about 17mpg in my '03 wrx and in my forester ('03 wrx motor, '07 wrx tranny). Both were tuned though and pushing more than stock boost(~300hp, 330tq) which lead to worse fuel economy. The person who bought my wrx reported getting 29mpg with it on the way home, but she must have had a very delicate right foot. I do like the cx-5 on paper, but in person its too large for my taste.

CX5 seems to be the perfect size for me, and small compared to the CX9 GT that we have. Now slightly off topic, I wonder when the Tesla is going to release a viable Model S that we can afford? I do like the electric idea even with all it's drawbacks and oddities (some yet to be known). Though it sounds far fetched, may be something I will be driving in the next 10 years or so.

I used to be a Subaru owner as well. The WRX can be pretty good on fuel with a decent tune. I had a friend with a Prodrive tune on his WRX and he got amazing highway mileage.

STI's are always awful on gas though. But that usually isn't a concern when you're having that much fun!

I like symmetrical AWD on Subaru's -- did like the Mazda Speed 3 for the power but the FWD no longer seem to cut it for me in the winter. Speed3 does have a nice interior compared to the WRX, so haven't really decided which car will be my next...

My wrx was a prodrive stg3 and even on the hwy I never did manage better than low-mid 20s. On the drive home the woman that bought it managed 30. The forester that I most recently sold had a much better tune but only managed 16-20. It sure was fun though. Now that I drive a 2, I've yet to get less than 33 and lately have been averaging 37.5. Best so far was 41. MPG wise its very similar to the '88 crx si I had for autocross.

What's the model # of the INNO for your 2012?

Thanks
