No Spare wheel

Here in the UK we don't get a spare wheel. I know in the US and Australia that you do. We don't even get an option to buy one. Can you tell me please for a CX5 with 19" wheels do you get a space saver or full size spare? I might buy on myself if I can find one. I just need to know what will fit in the recess area as I haven't had my car delivered yet. Thanks chaps.

Can anybody post a pic of the spare wheel in the boot so I can see how it fits please. Also will any 17" space saver fit the CX or does it have to be CX specific? I was thinking of buying one off ebay.

Its just a regular generic piece of crap spare. I'd personally never use it.

Look up the diameter of your stock tires and the diameter of the proposed temp spare and try to match them. Tire Rack has these specifications and also check the number of revolutions/mile. The tires need to be the same rolling size so it won't screw up antilock braking, stability control, tire pressure monitoring, engage 4 wheel drive etc.

Can anybody measure and check for me please. Will a FULL SIZE alloy and tyre 19" wheel fit into the spare wheel well in the boot (Sorry Trunk for you US guys). As we dont even get a space saver in th UK (And I haven't got my car to check yet) I'm thinking of getting a full size spare but want it to fit so the carpet can go back down flat.

There is not much more room than the dougnut spare. There is not enough height clearance below the floorboard, or circumference to fit a full size spare.

So what was provided (I assume it doesn't come with runflat tires)? Did it come with a can of sealant and pump of some sort?

you can get it here in Austria at additional cost, some weird tire dimension (space saver)... didn't order one, not sure if the can be ordered with AWD (due to different tire size/rotation, AWD would be fully engaged regulating this "slippage"). Repair set is also pain, can help with minor tire accidents, but if you completely rip your tire - you're screwed. AAA service on it's way?

Cheers,
Miki

don't hold my word for it, but it was about 180 EUR or little below (if I recall correctly). Which brings me to another question:

I couldn't find anywhere (US/German/Russian/Australian forums) information about new AWD durability, what's new comparing to old (CX-7 version, except for being lighter and more "energy efficient" whatever that means). In a really bad weather conditions (let's say snow/ice drive 1,000km+, constant slippage) what is thermal efficiency of new AWD system, will it overheat and automatically disengage to protect vital components... I wasn't able to find this information anywhere on the web. In general, aside from some crappy marketing promo videos, technical information on mazda AWD are pretty scarce....

Second, what is the actual rear torque distribution between left/right wheel? Rear wheels can get as much as 50% of torque (as there is no central differential), but what is the ratio for left/right rear wheels? Can it be 100% (of those 50%) to a single rear wheel if needed?

Cheers,
Miki

The only thing I've ever found are a bunch of youtube videos, mostly european or russian, showing people playing with the CX-5 in snow and dirt. I don't understand AWD systems so it means little to me, but maybe to someone who knows what to look for it might be educational? They show one wheel slipping or spinning in air, fronts turning and rears not, etc.

hello everyone

I asked my local dealer for a spare tire quotation. So, the small size (temporary use) plus some additional items (a sort of plastic tray/organizer where you can put your jack and the other stuff and goes on top of the spare wheel, and a screw to bolt the spare in).
Total price (including VAT) - 492 Euro!!!
I leave in Romania and the wheel, like all original spares and accessories come from Mazda's warehouse in Austria.
He didnt know if the spare comes with the rubber or it is just the rim. He will check and revert soon. But...he reckones that it might be w/o the rubber as they have had a similar problem with Mazda 6.

Anyway, it is outrageous. I have recently purchased on-line a full set of rims (Dezent) plus Pirelli Winter Carving Edge tyres (225/65/17) for 1,000 Euro (including balancing, fitting and transportation to my door).

Does anyone know the specs for a temporary use spare wheel for a Mazda CX-5? Full specs, please, rim and tire, diameters, bore etc.

Thanks a lot

Hi There, I am a newbie and my CX5 arrives in jan - no spare wheel however!

Did anyone get the answer to the question of what size wheel is required for the 19"" tyre! Keep thinking I should invest in one
