What was Mazda/Callaway thinking with internals and EMS????? ::First impressions::

Stock Protege exhaust is a little small. And the MSP axle back is pretty rare and expensive plus mines in 8 pieces welded together w no resonators or muffler. SSSO with access to a welder and lift, its cheaper to put together a solid eBy catback in my case......

How'd you go a year with no problems?! Wouldn't it be evident from day 1?! I've heard plugs help. But it seems like covering a shotgun hole w a bandaid.

Hey Champ,I really hate to do this to you but...... This my Borla. There are many like it but this one is mine. My Borla is my best friend.

Stealth: those are my exact thoughts. This car is amazing from the min I rode in one in 2005 I knew I'd own one someday. This is my 8th car in 16 months. The thing is riding in one and driving one is apparently a whole different battle. I really thought lack of front pressure was my villain but when I bolted the turbo down. Had the scare of my life. I thought I blew my motor. That was the most baffling thing. Again "great car as long as you don't use boost" its like:: merging onto highway "oh ya! I got turbo" car goes NO U DONT! HAHAH maybe I'm just expecting too much. But it amazes me to think a bunch of forum members and tuners can do better R&D than the mighty Rotary king Mazda?!?! I refer to my car as "Prototype" its a beta Mazdaspeed. The handling, comfort and looks are GREAT. Why would they skimp on the heart.

Hahah Destineal, ur a funny dude. Borla def sounds sick but as I said power is not my goal. If that was the case id leave it straight piped. It does sound viscous lemme tell ya. But EBay catback saves me about 400$ on that Borla which gets me a lot of parts I actually need so I can get this thing as nice as you Guy's.

if power is your not your main goal then, replace the stock plastic IC pipes (no idea why they went this route other then cost), get a spare set of rear sway bar bushings (poor design causes them to fail early but its a wear and tear part so thats debateable), also don't beat on the car in 5th gear and most important keep the boost stock.. These cars you can't just roll on the throttle. Your pretty much forced to down shift and beat the crap out of the car if you want it to run well. I'm on the stock tune and right now my car pulls pretty damn good.

If you know the tune and how it acts it will help with your driving experiance. You can't just roll into the throttle on this car. The stock tune on this car is designed to be dogged out from the get go and nothing else. If you get it into open loop in 1st or 2nd gear it will go into open loop at the slightest hint of boost and run 10 flat on the wide band. If you don't then the car will not go into open look tell about 3.8-4k when your dogging it. Get a wide band and run it! This will help you learn the car.

Edit:
Now if you want power get a FMIC (might as well go this route if your going hard pipes and ditch the crappy SMIC setup), get a down pipe (stock is pretty damn restrictive), intake (doesn't matter which SRI or CAI as its debated which one is better. However I prefer SRI just for peace of mind against hyrdolocking), and some sort of EMS

LMFAO! I dont think Walmart sells mandrel bent pipes, resonators, or the muffler I am looking for. But hey clearly the old owner is your boy since it looks like he used your Walmart straight pipe idea. ;-)
Let me clarify--- http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=200736913004&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=58171825732

Honestly. I drive like a vag. I usually shift around 3-4k. Issue is mostly on the highway and the heartattack one was a true stomp hahah Obviously I've learned even more to drive like a vag I'm afraid of blowing it, and powerband sucks anyway lol

FMIC IS A MUST! its another one of those WHAT WAS MAZDA THINKING?! 3/4 of the "S"MIC is covered by the FRONT bumper lmfao makes absolutely no sense.... and besides FMIC IS SSSSSSSOOO SEXY!

Lets be frank, How many cars even come with a LSD, or anything bigger than a KKK turbo back in the day. Mazda was going into uncharted territory. It just goes to show Rotory and Piston engines are completely different. Screw it slap 2 turbos on the RX7, BEAST!! Screw it slap 1 on a Protege, FAIL! hahah I think they definitely hopped on that F&F bandwagon and rushed to release these.

nto exactly, look at the 323gtx hatch. It was a turbo 4 banger awd and was pretty decent from what i understand. Rotoarys are also know to blow apex seals.. aka boost in, apex seals out. Its all about how the car was built.

My radio works just fine with the factory radio and has even on trips out of town unless im on the outer skirts of town. Plenty useable if you have decent radio coverage.

Thats definitely true, I forgot about those 323's. But they used OEM parts and had proper R&D. Werent they meant to be WRC cars? This thing def did the whole aftermarket F&F style with not enough R&D.

Thats weird, Ive always had good reception. Even with a shaved antenna and "digital" antenna in my old Integra. This thing is horrible. I cant catch any radio stations. Maybe he just disconnected it. Ill look this weekend. I kinda like listening to talk radio in the morning hahahah

Check your connection on the inside of the rear window and at the back of your radio.

Edit: people complain about it but i haven't had a issue since I've owned my car with it.

Damn then I must def have a problem. I thought I'd try it again and got nothing on 95% of stations.

You must have a few issues that are the non-standard for a GOOD RUNNING msp... Cracked ic pipes, a vac leak or two, leaky wga, coils, wires, plug gap? You shouldn't be continuously hitting cut unless something is wrong? Upped boost with a boost controller?

Its def got some issues. Its an MSP after all. Hahahah Its not all bad. Just when I really get into the throttle/boost. It'll pull smoothly and boost gauge is steady at .5 bar as long as I stay below 50-60% throttle. Newer Forge wastegate although it could be going out. Turbos on its way out. Vacuum is good tho. Lol I'm going to be changing plugs this weekend. I've heard those help a lot especially assuming they're all fouled up with from running rich.
