What have you done to your MSP today?

anyone have, or know of where a how to for wiring up the J&S is?

Find the pin out, find out which wires are ign 1 & 2, have the J&S intercept the wires, run your knock sensor and accompanying wires, then hook up power, and ground. That's it, you'e done. Mine has saved me quite a few times recently (been upping the boost lately, J&S doesn't like 14psi).

do you install the j/s knock sensor or use the stock one?

Go you! I still need to tune mine:/ I need to buy a wideband, I've been kinda waiting to get my exhaust first so I don't have to put an extra bung on the stock pipe. I'm just not exactly sure how to tune it myself though..
Thanks man, i'm STOKED. There is a spare bung in the stock J pipe for a WB sensor, that's where mine is. I have a lot to learn about tuning the AFC, gotta figure out how to install it first.

‎40 bucks and a trip to panama city got me a: valve cover, engine mount, maf, map+solenoid, fuel pressure regulator, 4 injectors and 4 fuel line clips, all off a low mileage protege!. gotta love pick and pull when they actually have what u want

I used the aftermarket Bosch sensor. Pretty sure it's a different frequency than the stock one, I could be wrong though.

Now, unless it was included, you're going to have a hell of a time finding the stud to mount the knock sensor in the available hole under the intake manifold. I want to say it was a m8 to m6 step stud neccessary to install it.

drove it for the last time (for the next 8 days at least)....

cause im going here tomorrow!

so are you using both sensors, or just one? it sounds like you're using 2 and there's an extra spot for the new sensor there?

Yeah so I got a quote for installing the fmik , from the place I'm gunna have do my motor mounts, they said wors case, $250-300..... Worth it... Or no.... Just dnt wana F up on it ....

if you are going to have them do you mounts you might as well since the fmic would be the harder of the two

Yeah, the stock sensor is still in place, even though it does nothing since I have the stand-alone.

There is a place in the block, under the intake manifold, that most people use to mount their J&S sensor.

that would be dropping like 5 bills though..... With the mounts, my bro took out air compresser to his house and all tools along with it i would need.... he took out jack and jack stands as well so i cant even do my mid pipe at this point F*ing sucks! was gunna do it tonight, the only think i could do wou,ld be the FMI... so im gunna tackle that tomorrow morning.....

forgot to pick up some "L" brackets though.... and everything is closed tomorrow too... s***! home the ones it came with will work... they look like s*** though ...

is it possible for you to take a picture?

my sensor has a hole in the middle of it, and it's circular like?

Can't really take a pic, my car is having a sleep-over at my buddies shop.

Description sounds right. My sensor was a Bosch from an SRT-4. I ended up having to order it through the dealership, because John's new units don't come with it.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I was wrong on that stud size, it's a step-stud, in 10x1.25 and 8x1.25. Also, aside from the wires I told you to hook up you also have to have a vac signal.

thanks joe, any clue where to get that stud?

You're most likely going to have to fabricate it from an m8 and m10. John (John @ J&S) and Steve at NSN (Turfburn) had those step studs custom made, and I bought the last two. One I sold to MSP2k3 a while back, and the other one I used myself . Sorry homie

got a local wanting to buy my msp rims off my totaled car but ONE problem the insurance already came and quoted me and took pictures of the car.
so my question is to you all.
can i get some rims i have lying around and throw them on there and see if they say anything about it?
idk when they will come get the car but id hate to see the rims not get used cause they have brand new tires on them.

what would you do?!!

call the ins company. Tell them you want to take your "aftermarket" wheels off and put the "factory" ones back on. Since "Aftermarket" wheels aren't covered anyway, they should say its fine.

^ ill give them a call tomorrow. but the girls protege was a 2nd gen with the 4 lug so it wouldnt of worked anyways.
i just wanted to help a girl put some nicer rims on her whip lol

ill most likely leave them on the car.
