What have you done to your MSP today?

lol poor msp! get well!

how crazy are your vibrations @ idle?

I've had them for almost a year and i'm used to them. Not really that bad honestly, it's worse around 2k RPM when accelerating. I've got all solid mounts and I wouldn't go back to stock even if I was paid to. The feel of the car and shifting just can't be beat.

Wait, wha? Please elaborate...

So while Buzzy was in the shop, a mechanic decided to move his tool box from the side of the car to the front of it. The bottom corners, as anyone who's nicked their shin on one will attest, are very sharp and perfectly aligned with the lip on the MSP. He put a 12-14" long gash through the center of it, through the paint and took some plastic with it. Fortunately it didn't go all the way through, and is certainly repairable. The manager called me immediately, told me what happened and the mechanic who did it came out to apologize personally while I was inspecting it, so I took it in-stride and refrained from going ballistic. Unfortunately for the tire shop, it's going to cost them $400 according to the estimate I got...

Looks like I'll be selling her this coming weekend. Had a friend come test drive last night, and now he is in love. If it doesn't go through, and come Saturday he doesn't get it, I'll take that as a sign and keep her, but as of now I'd be happy to see it go to him. He has more funds than me right now, and I know he would finish the build, follow the path I've laid out for him, and treat her better than anyone else. Sorry to say it, but for now it looks like I am moving on from the Protege after 5 years.

I probably would have reacted the same if they called me immediately, and the guy at fault personally apologized, and they're taking care of it. Accidents happen. It's when you don't fix your mistakes... that's when s*** goes bad.

Dedicated auto-x car. I want FTD. Probably EF/EK Civic, CRX, or a Miata.

I still love the car, but with two young kids my funds are now very limited, and without going to the next level the car is not going to be any faster at auto-x.

I have an EK Civic just sitting around that could go to a good home... B18C1 swap already done...

Hear you on that one, i have a 2 Y/O and a 1 Y/O, they are money pits ! The MSP is turning into more of a money pit then them already lol

My MSP decided to have some bad behavior this weekend. I towed a 1500lb trailer with it on Saturday morning (ditch witch to cut a trench in my backyard) and it worked fine. Later that night it was hesitating big time under 3000rpms so I tought "crap, towing did something to the car". Shop calls Monday and tells me I need a new ignition coil, $320 parts and labor. I look up prices and the part is $30 at Advance. Called them back and told them I'd take care of it myself. Swapped out both coils in 2 minutes in the shop parking lot and the car is back to running just fine.

So i Need to order Motor mounts for my MSP like ASAP, Its my daily driver so they dont have to be hard cor, just need stock or etc. basicly need to just get it fixed lol i know ive only asked this question lik ten million times lol but are these wworth the time and money ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/22079560786...66&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT&vxp=mtr

Those look to be an OEM replacement. For $120 it's not bad if you need to replace all of them, but I wouldn't bother if you want an "upgrade" or you only have one stock mount that needs to be replaced.

if your problem is shaking at high speeds on the highway it is not motor mounts, it's your alignment, a wheel or wheels unbalanced or some other suspension issue. If you really think it's the mounts, with your car parked and in neutral rev the engine and see if your car starts shaking like it did on the highway. If not get an alignment check. Speed does not effect the engine.

Yeah me and my brother did that one day, and the engine was moving alot and it was manly two of the mounts, the back/transmition mount was the wors, was splitting, so i know those need to be replaced, so figured do them all if im gunna have to do 2.... and my brother checked the front suspention and said it looked fine. (he's an appraiser at a boddy shop)

I have a shop manual for the 2003 Protege and I'm fairly certain they mentioned that you should never tow ANYTHING with the car.

LMK if you find them, I've got two missing.

Switched back to winter mode. Stock racing hart's and some Hankook i-Pike's. Yes, they are rather overkill but since I have the extra set of wheels specifically for winter, why not go all out?
