Well, here is the event prior to Nationals, so that means more drivers from out of the area to come and check out Mid-Ohio, which means great racing. I know we'll have th usual suspects coming out to run...Tom, Bill, Doc, Marc P. ( congrats on HPDE 3), Mark F., Pablo ( last track event fo rthe 3!?!) and me, if the motor is back together, may be a delay due to the AWR oil pan that has to be made.

So hopefully we'll see a number of you out their to support us.

You know I will always support you guys on track! Good luck to everyone for the rest of this season.

I am best man in a wedding this weekend, so chances are I will not be out for this. My plans to spend more time at MidOhio this year and hanging out with everyone has really been shot down, which is discouraging...but I still wish the best and have full support for everyone running out there! Good luck all!

I removed the wheels from the rx7 and found out that I lost a few belts in my right front tire, I thought that I had a ton of pick up on the final lap before for the checkers but my tire is bulged out of round by about 1/2". So I need new tires for the RX-7 I am looking for a set of ultra high performance summer tires, I don't want to use DOT race tires. Any opinions from the TT/ and HPDE people out there. I need 205/50-15's . Some options that I looked up were Nitto NT-01, Dunlop Star sepcs, Bridgestone Potenza RE-11, Yokohama Advan Neova AD08. Any comments on these choices?

I know Tom will swear by the Star Specs. Toyo R1R's are pretty good. XCLR8TN on here used them on her Miata. I'm currently running the Falken Azenis RT-615-K's on the Miata and have had nothing but good things to say there.

Ted really liked the previous version of the Potenza, felt good at MO (as a passenger). I'd say the Nittos (Marlon can chime in on those) or the Star Specs

well bummer, i'm going to be gone visiting family starting that weekend... :(

i wish they had more than just two or three events per year that the average joe can participate in...

I'm going to throw in a vote for the NT-01's. I use them on my Miata and they are great, I'm about 2/32nds into them and they are sticking great still. I drove them home from the rain once and I was pleasantly surprised how they handled rain. I probably wouldn't track them if it was actively raining, but on a damp track they would handle it quite well IMO.

If you are looking for something non R-Compound though the Star Specs are great too. Very good in the rain.

NT-01's, maybe the Kumho XS's as well, as they do extremely well with lightweigt cars. Nitto's can also be run in the rain when new, Nitto's are a part of Toyo Tire Corp. THE AD08's are not bad, but a bit pricey, itf came down to one for me, it would be the Nitto's.

Thanks for the input guys. I will be getting some tires this week.

Wow, August is sneaking up fast. I want to try another Hyperdrive (last one, I promise... then it will be HPDE1 next year).

Does NASA still allow passengers in HPDE3/4?

Hmmm....for some reason I don't see Hyperdrive available on the registration page, but it says it's available in the event info.

If so, I'll definitely be able to do one last Hyperdrive

Well I just checked the NASA event listing and the hpde3/4 is full. I think I will sign up for 1/2.

I would see if I could be moved to time trials. Sign up for 1/2 and see if you can get TT director Joe Sullivan ( e mail him) to ride with you and run in TT. 3/4 are not that far apart from TT for the most part, you have more than enough experience, you will have to rent a transponder for TT, you will be better off buying one.

I noticed this same thing with the last event that was at Mid Ohio. Apparently not being on the registration pages means that there is no Hyperdrive. (sad1)
