crazy motor swaps

So out of curiosity have there been any crazy motors swaps of any sort in a msp or just any protege in general

Other than the average KLZE swap, I believe one member is doing a BP swap and somebody else talked about doing swap from a Honda. But other than that, it isn't worth it. The money put towards any other swap, you might as well buy a new car.

sr20det would be a good swap, it sits the same way our engines do, and the mounting points aren't that far off. Someone should look into it

yes, someone is doing a BP off a GTR or something, and running a toyota trans. someone else is doing a D series swap. KLDE/ZE are more common and FAR more practical. i would be interested in seeing a SR20 swap performed. badass engines.

just pull up a good photo of an sr20det in a se-r and look at the mounting points, its pretty damn close. And the tranny is alot more stout than our glass s*** box

That would also be sweet. I think I will just build my motor, make around 300whp and find a good 88gtr to rally

people always talk about doing S20F swaps but it never happens. theres always talk about rotary swaps, too, and theres always the idiot asking if they can swap a 2jz in.

This is an sr20ve, but you get the picture, look at the mounting points, although I can't tell if the tranny is there or not. I know my old b13 se-r had the tranny mount pretty damn close to the MSP but you can't see it because the battery covers up the mounting point in a nissan.

just looking at that pic, im not too sure it would fit... the intake mani is pretty close to the firewall there, as for grafting it into a MSP, it looks like the distance from the header to the back of the intake mani is about 2" too much.

I've always had the idea of going back in time and doing an Fe3 swap, that is arguably the best 4 cyl motor mazda ever produced (speaking before the 2.3 disi turbo). If you don't know much about the fe3 look it up.

the tranny mount is directly below the battery, more forward then the protege one.
passenger and front mount look awesomely close to where our's are
my buddy has a turbo'd se-r sr20ve that i finally had the chance to look over last night

I just read up on the FE3. I'd be very interested in seeing that dropped into a protege. Might need to do some more research as my engine is starting to reach 150,000mi.

Ha, I have 170,000 miles and my car runs like a top. It just needs every suspension component on the car replaced. But my wife drives the car, so I will not plan on making anymore power than stock for the moment.
