Not that I know of, but I don't know what I'm looking for. It idles steady, revs quickly and smoothly, pulls hard to redline, and doesn't stumble or really have any issues with how it runs. I'd rate the motor A1, besides the leaking.
if you need a tool Wes, ask away--it wouldn't hurt! My grandpa's garage doesn't have everything, but it has 1000x more than just a set of wrenches in a toolbox. The other day I used this sweet jackhammer air gun to cut-off bolts out of an exhaust housing...why he has that, I dunno, but it was awesome...

Are you sure? I know I'm pretty particular about my tools and I don't like loaning stuff out because I know it doesn't come back in the same shape.. I just had an argument with my dad about how I don't "treat my things nicely" but I treat my stuff better than anyone else I know. The only thing that comes to mind might be a timing light, or a seal puller. I need to pick up a good torque wrench, too, because I don't trust the Harbor Freight one for important stuff. Lugs are one thing, but engine internals are a bit more particular.
You get the Cossie F1 intake?

no, i wish. it would have a few issues: would need to chop up things to make it fit, would need an standalone since it requires a conversion from MAF to MAP, and street drivability would be greatly compromised (unless i go WOT most of the time...). I have an SRI now, need to get rid of the CAI

I've got a pretty heavy duty torque wrench, but I don't know how accurate it is anymore-it's old and has been wound and unwound so many times, you know what I mean?
I totally trust you, but of course, I just need to make sure it comes back to me within a reasonable time. My family works on mechanical things non-stop (we have 5 households living on one street (all neighbors) who share my grandpa's barn and garage with all the tools in it...Condition-wise I'm not worried because the stuff is old anyway, but still works good. But yeah if you need a weekend or a week, just let me know. Feel free to come out my way and use the whole garage for the week if you want-no car is parked in there so it is free and safe as long as you "claim" it ahead of time.
Edit: I've probably told this story before, but it is a perfect example of working on cars where I live: My buddy came over to work on a broken window regulator on his BMW M3...By the time it was finished, his dad, him, me, my grandpa, and two people I don't even know (my gramps knew them) were working on it. We needed a special drill bit for some reason, and the guy I didn't know had one; he invited us to his house and gave it to us to use. It's a pretty cool little country community I live in...It's not strange to have 2 or 3 people enter the garage randomly and go "what's going on here?" and offer to help.

Ugh, considering looking for a new set of wheels. Probably 17x8 RPF1's if I do it. I really want to run a 245-series tire but there's only one option in 245/45R16 (for street tire), the Toyo T1-R, which I'm running now in 225/50R16. I feel like the sidewall's just too soft, but I don't have any other options. There's like 20 different tires in 245/40R17 to chose from including the much heralded Star Specs...
what about 235/45/17's? the evo wheels i picked up are running those. i haven't looked into tires yet but that seems to be the common size for them so there should be a decent amount to chose from

That would still require 17" wheels, which I currently don't have and if I picked some up I'd want to go as wide as I can (245). As far as I know, there aren't any 235-series tires that fit a 16" setup either so it's not like there's some happy medium. I'd need something like a 235/45R16.

Wrote up all the parts that will be included in the partout just now. I'll be snapping pics later today and putting the thread up. The car will continue being a daily driver as I'm selling things. Slowly, it's going back to stock. Gonna be fun.
i didn't read your post very good the first time.
i wouldn't think you'd have to go back to completely stock for a dd, engine wise maybe but not the rest of it.

I did some math and after seeing how much I could gain by doing it, it made complete sense. The car is just not fun NA. I don't have time to race. The parts could do well on other cars, even cosmetic. I want a normal car again. I should have never started with the protege but I don't regret it simply due to the fact that I learned A LOT on the car.
