Word of advice. Buy oil change gloves. They have a rubber grip that basically sticks to the filter. Made my oil change so much easier.
Gonna go to a weld shop tomorrow to get a 1in opening welded onto the intake. So i can run the rdv. I know the opening on the turbolife is 1.25". Not sure if ill need 1.25: opening on the intake or 1in will be fine. Anyone got some info on this?
went on a mountain run early this morningi did not know my car could handle that well
i love mountain driving we got alot of good roads u can just open up on its fun
Wow...
You did put a full 4qts of oil in, yes?
And seriously, a lift is not needed for an oil change. That's f'in ridiculous. Not to be a dick, but get your hands dirty... Lol, I've never worked on a car with a lift. Yes, it would be nice. But for a 15 minute job like an oil change? Not really necessary... (boom08)
where would you suggest they locate the filter? LOL
if you really wanna you could put in a relocation kit.
I'm fairly certain I finally diagnosed the source of my problem (Code P0171 - "Bank 1 Too Lean"). The symptoms seem to point to a failed vacuum check valve located between bank 1 and bank 2 on the intake manifold. Damian (boostdprotegelx) and I will be replacing this next Sunday. Will let you all know how it goes.
I know this code has been the source of many mystery issues and much stress for quite a few fellow MSP owners. Maybe this relatively cheap fix ($25 part from Mazda) will help alleviate some of the stress we have been experiencing due to this code.
I'm interested to hear the results of this. I have a turbo'd auto and I get that CEL occasionally as well...
Funny I have this cel right now.
Makes my idle rather lean, and my vacuum isn't as low as it should be.
keep us updated.
yea..i have the same problem occasionally, please let us know what you find
You can reach the filter from the top of the bay with the 626 mani on. Still have to get under to clean up but it makes removing the filter very easy.
I used royal purple so I only used 3 and a half quarts since it is so thick. The manual actually calls for 3.75 quarts anyway. IMO a lift is not f'in ridiculous. What is ridiculous is the placement of the filter. Also I have no problem getting my hands dirty since I've already installed my FMIC and valve cover entirely by myself with only a jack.
edit: oh and a pair of slim fans for which my dad and I removed the radiator.
