What have you done to your MSP today?

Damn mod bug never stops. I went as far as to buy a Sport20 from Japan...

(bowdown)
I'm fairly certain I finally diagnosed the source of my problem (Code P0171 - "Bank 1 Too Lean"). The symptoms seem to point to a failed vacuum check valve located between bank 1 and bank 2 on the intake manifold. Damian (boostdprotegelx) and I will be replacing this next Sunday. Will let you all know how it goes.

I know this code has been the source of many mystery issues and much stress for quite a few fellow MSP owners. Maybe this relatively cheap fix ($25 part from Mazda) will help alleviate some of the stress we have been experiencing due to this code.
I'm interested to hear the results of this. I have a turbo'd auto and I get that CEL occasionally as well...

Funny I have this cel right now.

Makes my idle rather lean, and my vacuum isn't as low as it should be.

keep us updated.

Exactly. My rpms fluctuate at idle. Lift your hood while the engine is running, then rev the engine by flipping the throttle by hand. See if you hear a hissing sound coming from your intake manifold. That's one of the symptoms as well, but may not always be present.

not today but yesterday

almost lost to an old school bug when trying to pass it... gotta love the lack of power the protegay has lol I really need to just break loose and get a new exhaust mani or something. No boost leaks or vac leaks yet its acting like something is holding it back(retarded timing I guess). When the power finally kicks it the motor sounds completely different and it screams but it more or less doesn't scream most of the time.

I really need to get off my ass and install my WB, Short shifter, and possibly the perrin fuel rail.

Nice Focus, my bro had the opportunity to get an AWD version but decided against it. He would need to transfer over everything from it to his because he can not register it where we live. Some stated are lucky though. Great Find though. His was going to be red like his.

The sad part about it, is in Canada it's inadmissible under 15 year old. We had to cut up the car in 3 to get it in...

well i'm about a 2 weeks late from posting this, but i installed the corksport 80mm power series exh. It's nice, and was an easy install. All i had to do was slightly bend the hangars to keep the tip from touching my bumper but other than that it was a decent upgrade.

On vacation right now, but missing my MSP! :( I reallllllllly wanna get it all fixed up with my new projectors and such.

my rear end has been sqeaking like crazy lately. its the worst its been since i bought the car. i can't take it anymore. time for the clunk fix i guess

ok.....time to grease the bushings i guess. is there a how-to on that?

Its easiest to stick bricks under your tires and slink under. No load on the bar that way. And easiest to pull the lateral link down to access the bolt up top. I removed the endlinks for inspection and was easier to clean up the bar not under the car.
About half hour work.

hmm, Ive been trying to replace my bushings for abit now. in the rear the bolts closest to the engine seem impossible to get to and in the front I cant get to the inside ones. are you just doing this while its jacked up and crawl under the car? maybe Im just making it more difficult but its been one of the biggest PITA things on the car for me

I didn't have any real trouble with it... I did it with the car jacked up. as long as one wheel isn't more loaded than the other you should be fine. I did notice that it was somewhat difficult to get the 2 of the 4 bolts, but far from impossible.
