What have you done to your MS3 today?

I went to the body shop to check on my ride today. I had my windshield replaced and the tech scratched up my fenders and outer A pillars while doing it. They are paying to have them repaired and blended. While it was there I paid extra to have the hood sanded and repainted. As well as respraying both fenders completely, rather than blend them. Lots of rock chips being removed in the process ;)

How did you go about installing it? WHich instructions did you use (if any)?

I bought a low tone horn but haven't put it on yet. I assume you just took off the plastic below and installed from underneath without removing the bumper. It looked pretty tight in there when I was working on installing my CAI so I'm not looking forward to working on the horn. Probably why I haven't done it yet.

I did it at my best friend's house, since he has ramps and space. He's also stuck on dialup (sad1), so I read and memorized the videos and how-to's before I went out there.

You are correct, it is VERY tight under there, and I cursed a lot... 95 degree heat didn't help my attitude any. I could not get a good enough angle and torque to loosen the main bracket either! So I just removed the horn by itself, then put the two FB's on one of the brackets they come with, and mounted the whole assembly back under the car.

It was not fun. My hands and wrists spent a lot of time in positions they were not designed for. I did ultimately get it on, but damn, it sucked!!!

Best part? I forgot to ground one, so I had to remove the assembly, fix that, then put it back on. AIEEEEEE...

Sounds like about how I expect it to go when I finally get around to doing it. (confused)

But man that stock horn just sounds terrible...

Thanks for the response!

^ nice! fresh paint is always good. the CF overlay on the interior looks much cleaner than the red.
thanks, it was due for a change and this was fairly resonable to do.

how hard is that carbon fiber stuff to manuever strick?

not too hard. I did a lot of reading and watching vids before attempting to put it on, heat works wonders with it.

I went to check on the car again. It was painted and had 3 coats of clear on it when i went in. It still needed to be wet sanded and buffed though. I did a little more on the interior too. Heres a couple of pics

^ wow, that overlay seriously looks good. now you got me thinking...

in other news: i installed a clear bra on my hood and mirrors today. gaaaah! might be ripping it off tomorrow. aside from it being my first time and doing a slightly amateur job on the install, i just don't think i like it. rock chips be damned...

This is why I always tell people that are talking about buying a TMIC to just go ahead and get the FMIC because you are going to end up there anyway.

Which kit? post pics of the install.

Will do my friend...cx racing with blue couplers. I loved the TMIC, but I drive in a lot of stop and go so I don't really reap the benefits. Plus I am eventually getting the pipes powdercoated magnesium blue to match my wheels...so I did it for a couple of reasons. I loved the TMIC tho, it looked beautiful under the hood all polished. Drenkel will not be disappointed.

oh and I am posting my cobb ap for sale on sunday a long with twm big type r in stainless steel with the 6 speed etching in perfect condition if anyone is interested. I am heading camping for the weekend tonight, so holler at me if you are interested before I post either.

already took the clear bra off my hood, lasted less than 24 hours. i can't win. it's either beautiful, naked hood with rock chips or bra lines with no rock chips.

Damn strick, that Dry carbon looks nice. makes me want to order some. (thumb)

oh and why is your hood getting repainted anyway? I dont think you have said that.

How hard was that? I would love to cut and paint mine if it isn't too hard.

Not too hard at all. Just need a rotor tool and a small cutting disk. I used some making tape to mark my cutting lines and protect the rest of the emblem. Then some sanding with 220 and 400 paper...2 coats of paint of your choice. Pick up some 3M double sided tape and you are done. Took me less than an hour.
