NEMOC Random BS Thread

Hi guys really really busy at BC I am coordinating the housekeeping summer operation this year and is crazy around 80 people.

and Yeah that was my mighty horn. You tell them Jenn

Lol. Beep beeeeep. VROOM VROOM.

I haven't been able to drive my little car in a while. I've needed the wagon for many supply runs.

The problem is I've actually entertained thoughts of selling my roadster. My entire house needs new windows, and $7,000 from selling my convertible would about cover it. (sad2)

I've considered selling mine as well. When it comes down to it, it was a car payment that I really didn't need... Especially when you consider that I was looking for a Protege replacement, not an additional car...

mine is paid for.. which makes it straight cash in my pocket if I sell it.

at the same time, all it costs me per year is an oil change (I only put about 2000 miles per summer on it) and the insurance money.

if I didn't need to get all these home repairs done, I wouldn't even think about selling it.

my father in law gave me some sage advice though. don't sell your toy unless you have another one in hand.

Good advice Sean. Of course my father has 7 cars, 1/2 are toys and projects. heh!

yeah.. my father in law had to learn from experience. he sold his boat a long time ago and never got another one.

if I sold my miata, I'd want to upgrade my daily driver to something more fun than a forester.

I'd honestly love an MS3 or a Civic SI.

My thought process is like this... If I sell the MSM and the Protege, an RX8 would fill the void and keep me happy until I can get another Miata. It's all still up in the air though. I know I'd hate myself if I sold the MSM.

Don't do it....how about an equity loan instead? IIRC you can still get the tax credit for energy efficient upgrads + the interest on the loan will be deductible.

Sell the Protege....doesn't cost anything to put an ad on craigslist.

Fansmashtic... if only I didn't have to work.

Good to hear and you are always so expressive with your emotions Jenn.

Sell the Miata and use the cash to buy one of the above. You'll be on the road enjoying driving the new car so much you won't even think about those windows. ;)

7?!?!?! Jebus! Some day.. I'm going to have a 5 car garage.. and a carport.. or 2.

Yes....someday I'll have my simple two car heated garage....but first it was waterproof the basement, then it was remodel the kitchen and somehow I have a feeling the bathroom will be next and then of course comes new siding which will bring insulation and then there's......*sigh*

I thought about an equity loan, but we've only been in the house for four years. I don't really want to be compromising the little equity we actually have in the house. Besides, we're already underwater as it is.

Honestly, I really do enjoy the miata. It is the most responsive and nimble vehicle I've ever owned. I'm not exactly sure a front wheel drive car would be able to replace that. Sure, the MS3 and SI are fun, but as far as cheap fun goes, I'm not sure the miata can be beat.

The whole reason I need new windows is because our house doesn't have any sort of air conditioning solution (crank windows) and the existing windows and sliding doors are starting to fail.

the other part of this mess is that I was kind of counting on having a new job by now. I have nearly 300 vacation hours built up (I can max out at 344) and when I leave, they have to cut me a check for every hour I have built up. Naturally, that would pay for a substantial portion of the project.

Alas, my job search enters its second year.

Understood about the equity especially in this current market...just throwing it out there given all the tax credits and such available.

And you've just given me another reason to 'not' test drive a Miata...for the fact that I would not want to hand the keys back over.

Ouch.....what type of heating system do you have? If you have a forced hot air type, how about installing central air? Of course this will still cost $$$ and won't solve your current door/window problem.... Sometimes I wish I had a landlord. lol

Damn...well that is a nice incentive to find something new...I wish you luck in your search!

Yeah, don't test drive a miata. You won't want to give it back. The first miata I ever drove was a white 95. Very simple. But I fell in love with it.

I have hot water baseboard. I've been quoted out for central air, but that's actually more expensive than doing the windows. If I do windows, at least I can pop a window unit in here and there as a stop gap solution.

Even if I got the full $1500 energy credit from central air, I'd still be out about 8 grand for the install. New windows will run about 7-8k, and I'd be better prepared for central air given the better windows.

great! thugs and gansta's giving us a bad name! i played baseball at that playground as a kid... :(
