I haven't been able to drive my little car in a while. I've needed the wagon for many supply runs.
The problem is I've actually entertained thoughts of selling my roadster. My entire house needs new windows, and $7,000 from selling my convertible would about cover it. (sad2)
I've considered selling mine as well. When it comes down to it, it was a car payment that I really didn't need... Especially when you consider that I was looking for a Protege replacement, not an additional car...
Good advice Sean. Of course my father has 7 cars, 1/2 are toys and projects. heh!

Fansmashtic... if only I didn't have to work.
yeah.. my father in law had to learn from experience. he sold his boat a long time ago and never got another one.
if I sold my miata, I'd want to upgrade my daily driver to something more fun than a forester.
I'd honestly love an MS3 or a Civic SI.
7?!?!?! Jebus! Some day.. I'm going to have a 5 car garage.. and a carport.. or 2.
Don't do it....how about an equity loan instead? IIRC you can still get the tax credit for energy efficient upgrads + the interest on the loan will be deductible.
Sell the Miata and use the cash to buy one of the above. You'll be on the road enjoying driving the new car so much you won't even think about those windows.![]()
I thought about an equity loan, but we've only been in the house for four years. I don't really want to be compromising the little equity we actually have in the house. Besides, we're already underwater as it is.
Honestly, I really do enjoy the miata. It is the most responsive and nimble vehicle I've ever owned. I'm not exactly sure a front wheel drive car would be able to replace that. Sure, the MS3 and SI are fun, but as far as cheap fun goes, I'm not sure the miata can be beat.
The whole reason I need new windows is because our house doesn't have any sort of air conditioning solution (crank windows) and the existing windows and sliding doors are starting to fail.
the other part of this mess is that I was kind of counting on having a new job by now. I have nearly 300 vacation hours built up (I can max out at 344) and when I leave, they have to cut me a check for every hour I have built up. Naturally, that would pay for a substantial portion of the project.
Alas, my job search enters its second year.
And you've just given me another reason to 'not' test drive a Miata...for the fact that I would not want to hand the keys back over.
Ouch.....what type of heating system do you have? If you have a forced hot air type, how about installing central air? Of course this will still cost $$$ and won't solve your current door/window problem.... Sometimes I wish I had a landlord. lol
Damn...well that is a nice incentive to find something new...I wish you luck in your search!
