Brake Issues (after replacing rotors/pads)

:
MSP & MS3
Had my pads and rotors replaced today. After they finished, one of the techs took my car out for what seemed like a 10 min joyride. That much pissed me off but, because I was in a hurry, I didn't feel like making a big deal about it. That much paled in comparison to the issues I'm having with the brakes. Again, if I wasn't in such a hurry I would have turned around immediately and went back. If the problems don't magically fix themselves, I plan to go back tomorrow. A) wtf? B) how could you not have heard this s*** while you went gallivanting with my car?

So yeah... on to the probs. When I'm just driving (no brakes) I'm hearing some type of rubbing/clicking sound every half second or so. Seems to speed up the faster I go... and it seems to be coming from all 4 wheels. Can really hear it good when driving next to a wall or something.

Again, I was hoping it was just part of having new parts so I did a few hard stops. The brakes already had felt less grabby (more spongy than my stockers... which I guess I can chalk up to the Hawk pads) but this time it was accompanied by a rather strange metal on metal rubbing sound. Hard to describe exactly. Definitely not the typical brake squeal... more of a low pitch sound.

I don't really know much about brake so I can't begin to speculate. But needless to say, I'm pretty pissed. I waited around forever for these guys to take my car in and assumed everything was cool after the tech logged 4 miles on my car. I'm just hoping they don't pass the blame onto the equipment or something. For what it's worth, I suppose (from a rotor standpoint anyway) that's possible. I basically got the same pads everyone else gets (Hawk HPS) so I'd doubt that's the problem. But... yeah... I may have dropped the ball on the rotors. I hesitated till now to say it but... guess it has to be said. rotorpro drilled/slotted from PG. Flame on

Seriously though... any advice/insight would be helpful. I have a bad feeling I'm gonna get the "derrr... I don't know what to tell you" treatment tomorrow. Need some ammo just in case. Thanks

Good evening to you!
I had issues like that several times, and each time it was just metallic round dust cover touching the rotor. So I bent it by some long screwdriver and that was all.
But actually for me that was definitely not clicking, but constant rubbing.

Update: I may have been a bit paranoid about the shop not going above and beyond. While I'm still not thrilled with the joyride, they took it in and pretty much redid everything. So far so good... now if only I could get the damn Cobb RSB to stop squeaking! THAT's why I F'in replaced the stocker. So far nobody can figure that s*** out. What's up with Mazda and their RSBs? Seriously... my MSP was a disgrace with the clunk and this car's almost as bad. crazy

I guess I can/should give that a shot. I'll give anything a shot at this point. But just for the record... the shop that installed it greased the hell out of it. I don't know what kind of grease they used but they're pretty reputable so I'd imagine it was the right kind.

Hawk HPS pads are harder than stocks, so they will make a little bit more noise. plus they need to break-in before they will give you better feel.

as for the rear sway bar, take the bushings out, wrap the sway bar with teflon pipe tape, and remount the bushings. that stuff will outlast any grease you put on there, and will prevent the bar from squeaking for much longer.

As far as the RSB, have you check out your endlinks? those are known to go bad in the back

I recently got hawk pads on the front and I noticed that they are less grabby when cold but once warmed up, they are great! If they are too hot (lots of stop and go traffic) they squeel like crazy. It took some getting used to but love them nontheless.

im getting hawk hps pads and rotora oem spec front rotors ill let you know how it goes

Good luck with that..... after placing an order for the exact same rotors, I was informed that Rotora hasn't produced any products for the MS3 in nearly 5 months! WTF are they (the site) listing them for sale then!?!

yea i called "the site" and they told me ahead before i ordered them but i got them off another site and it showed they were in stock

Its BS if you ask me. If you're going to advertise them for sale, at least add a note or something letting customers know they are out of stock. I ended up with just over $200 on hold from my bank account for like 4 days until they finally cancelled my transaction. Ended up ordering Centric's from Rock Auto.

well i hope its not the same with the site i ordered them from. ordered them friday and so far they havent notified that they dont have them
