Got charged $80 for diagnostic check regarding my a/c...got a call back...$560 to fix it...OMG...windows down this summer...eff it...sorry kids...

it blows cold air at 1, but at speed 2-4 A/C light goes off and blows regular air...now he either said, compressor or condensor...can't remember, have to look their crabby handwriting on the writeup they gave me...

If it blows cold air then doesn't that mean the A/C system is working? To me it sounds like an electrical issue, perhaps you're suffering from the "Flickering Fan Speed" (I love that the acronym is FFS) problem. See: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123710367

Definatly not the compressor or condenser. Don't take the car bact to that shop, they are stupid. Your problem is with the a/c control unit or the blower motor resistor. Find a good electrical shop and they should be able to fix it for arround $200.

i'm gone try the other suggestion up top first and if that don't work then i'll try a local shop or something...

yeah the write up stated it recommends replacing the A/C Heater control assembly...they want me to do a fuel service, brake, coolant and Pls flush? anyone know what Pls is?

I feel your pain. I just paid $325 for the compressor and another $185 for install! Mine made weird noises when turning on the ac and defogger.
