I feel your pain. I just paid $325 for the compressor and another $185 for install! Mine made weird noises when turning on the ac and defogger.

also all of those except the P/S you can do yourself relatively easy

If you siphon the fluid out of your reserve tank several times (obviously, refill it and let the engine run in between), you'll get a somewhat adequate "flush".
