NEMOC Random BS Thread

I had to get a VIN verification for the 8 when I moved here... it's an 06 and I moved here in 08. All I did was get a form from inside the DMV, then drive my car around to the side of the building, ring a bell, and wait for a guy to come out and check the VIN.

I hate the CT DMV! (bang)

I just spent 2 hrs at the DMV to have them contradict everything I was told on the phone. Apparently, they won't do VIN verifications on vehicles older than 2008 (Maybe 2007)

Seriously.... **** this state.
i have to go there tomorrow for my motorcycle license. i'm looking forward to it. i'm going to try the enfield branch because the closer one (newington maybe?) has already proven to me that they're stupid and not willing to help at all.

Correct. However, with a 2004 vehicle they will not do a VIN check nor will they give me a temp reg. plate to get one done. This is why my previous statement stands. Please read fully. The Miata is not registered and to get it to the DMV or State Police to get a VIN check requires a temp reg. The local DMV office will not do that because it's not within the year range.

However, I can attempt to say I am driving the car back to FL and get a 30 Day temp reg. The downside of this is my number was 110 when they were on number 82 after waiting for 2 hrs to get to the point of them telling me what I mentioned earlier.

So my statement stands. Screw CT DMV.

Edit: Also..... screw front plates, screw property tax on a vehicle, and screw "fair market value" sales tax. (Yes, I am totally angry right now!)

+2 (had 3 kids)

Had?? Don't you still have them?

Sorry for the run around Chris. I understand the frustration. Gov't in general leaves a lot to be desired.

Got home tonite. Drove top down most of the day. Was beautiful when we left. Got part of the way down Rte 1. Good to be home.

Meh... s*** happens, but I have had a run around with them before. It's time to take names, write them down, and forward them to their respective governments to get this issue resolved.

Yes, I am still angry on this whole fact of being told one thing on the phone and being told another in person. As I said, it's time to take names and provide evidence to conversations had. I've done this in the past with the military and it's worked in my favor.

FWIW I've driven without a front plate in MA and NH for a number of years, cars, and a few traffic stops but not having a front plate has never been an issue.

People get stopped on base without front plates for CT. It's normal routine actually.

btw...... My neighbors are being seriously loud with Final Fantasy XIII or Final Fantasy XIV (I play the beta) and it's a bit annoying....... >=/

None except the typical Mazda Zoom-Zoom sticker. I don't even have holes in the front bumper for a dealer vanity plate.

Wish more dealers were like that. Thankfully, I bought my Speed about 2 days after it was traded in so the dealer sticker came right off. (cabpatch)

that's awesome. I hate dealer stickers/decals/stuff. I know some people have refused to accept a car with any kind of dealer stuff on it.

Yeah, if I ever bought a new-new-0-mile-lose-$8k-leaving-the-lot car, it would be pre-debadged. Now, if only I beat them up for not having the cargo (hatch) area cover I might've gotten more $ knocked off the price. Oh well.

I told the dealer that I wouldn't take delivery if I saw "Ramsey Mazda" anywhere on the car

Hahahaha Storm agrees! There was a lot more to the agreement and negotiation with my car, but the big seller was them specifically refusing to add anykind of their dealer crap on it.

When I asked the guy I bought it from his answer was rather simple... 'If you show the car off and people like it, mention our name." To be honest, that was better advertisement for their dealership than some cheesy ass sticker or license plate tag or dealer sticker.
