so far I found only these guys can order one for me (since this is SE): http://villagecyclesport.com/

order from patrick. he'll hook you up and he knows what he is talking about.

to be honest I got the same feeling. Some ignorance has been shed over the phone.. I thought ohh well

Patrick who? PM me his contacts. The reason for this thread is to bring my business to trusted and LOCAL business. thx

there is lots of ignorance at our shops this time of year. we are just starting to hire the seasonal *****. and well..... you can see they all need training and experience. all shops have there *****. just talk to as many people as you can at the shop you go to too find the right guy/gal. I have found that to be true no mater where you go, also some people have bad days too.

I hear you. PMed you back. Thx!

I wouldent get the SE because if you ever busted a rim you would be ******. one blue rim and then one black rim... not so good. also I am going to say no on the discs. at that price point they are crap brakes. they will not be as high performance as you would think. if you are plaining on riding in the rain alot then they might be usefull to you. outside of that I would much rather own V-brakes.

Had to jump in.... In that price range level of bike I dont think brakes would be my only concern. I understand certain people can afford certain things, maybe looking for a used bike on Craigslist is worth an attempt. You could very likely get a 3 - 5 year old bike with MUCH MUCH better components. I would not trail ride a 3500, probably not even a 4500. If I couldnt get into the Gary Fisher Marlin line I would go for a used bike! My 2 cents...

I had the same thought about those rims. I wish they come in reg black or silver. I just liked white frame and reg 3900 do no come in white. Same with brakes - I won't ride it in wet conditions anyway. They just happen to come on SE. anyway..

That being said it looks like reg 3900 with V-brakes would work just fine for me. I started to look into what can I get for the money and it looks like I need to fill my knowledge base before going forward and asking stupid questions.

All this bike talk reminds me that I have to bring my bike in. I have a mountain track 830 from like 1998!! I always took great care of her up until this last winter. The wife new bike took it's place in storage and my baby was put on the deck!!! I can only imagine how rusty it's gotten. any recomendations??
