Sooo.....Ive been thinking..and Im sure alot of you fellow car enthusiasts as well-are frustrated about how America totaly gets the big salami with no vasoline treatment from car companies......I wont mention them all..I dont have the time or the resources, But lets look at a few things....

Subaru STI- North American version gets crap cast pistons and shity rings-tons of failtures, Japanese ofcourse get all forged, way less prabs.

America gets Civic si-197 bhp......Japan and Europe get Type R Civic-220 hp and lighter. America gets Mugen Civic Si-same 197 hp, but for that extra 5-6 grand you get the Mugen name and body kit-wheels,shifter knob *wow*...Japan thier Mugen Civic is made of carbon Fiber so its pretty dam light and has a 2.2 liter built motor around 250 hp..

Mittsubishi EVO- Europe gets the FQ series, lots more power and other goodies.

Europe enjoys having the Focus RS...a 305 hp fwd monster rally car, rumors of coming stateside have been going on for while, but now doesnt seem likely,"might" come over as a svt version..MAYBE. BUT we in America can feel grateful for getting the turbocharged Aspire! haha 250 hp is what is rumored to be..Prabaly gonna be aa fun little car, and for a 18 year old girl..maybe perfect..but seriously Im not gonna "own" a performance ASPIRE.

VW r32....great car!..but pig heavy. so VW gives us the gti-r...great car, but how many more in america would prefer the Scirocco R20? Prabaly alot!...

Audi A1 44 mpg and more stylish than a prius!

VW Polo GTI-300lb lighter than the Golf,with a 178 hp 184 tq 1.8 liter engine-be a great daily driver.

Theres alot more out there too, Weve been missing the boat for years..this isnt New news..just a reminder..maybe its the emision laws on somethings..maybe its a gentlemans handshake behind closed doors to f*ck american people..I honestly dont have the answers.. But Think its BS..and that my 2 cents for today lol.

The Trilateral commision wants Americans to have crappy cars

Thats why the french get the citroen 2CV, and the russians get the trabant

OR

mebbe its because mostly, americans are lazy and ignorant and fat and happy to believe whatever they see on TV.

Ford Mondeo, Ford Fiesta 3-door, Ford Kuga, the European Focus their own version of the Ranger. Europe gets all Ford's good stuff. I guess they justify it because we have the Mustang. Bah. Just sell everything good here, and ditch the crap...such as the current Focus.

Well 2012 is supposed to be the release of the global Focus, which has the possibility of bringing the RS over here (maybe under the SVT nameplate). Not too far of to wait but still annoying, but also good to see Ford is trying to keep it to one model across the world.

Ford's one world product line will fix this soon...the Kuga is coming as our next Escape, and the Europe Focus is now our Focus...but the RS500 would be nice. And a manual Mazda6.

yes. In terms of cars. America blows. Lucky for all of you who dont live in California. It is worth it to live here, but emissions testing is so stringent. And it doesn't help that Mr. Stalin in the White house wants to outlaw diesels all together.
wouldn't it be nice if we could get this...?

I was just talking about this with my buddy the other day. He said told me it probably had something to do with profit. His arument was all these better cars probably wouldn't make money here in the USA.

I RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE!

With riced out civics, the WRX, STI, MS3, GTI, R32, EVO, Raliart etc your telling me the focus RS wouldn't sell here? There is clearly a market to support it.

Furthermore it pisses me off that Ford, and AMERICAN company stiff's its own people and gives us the bad focus. Everything I have heard says the Euro version of the focus is much better.

I remember when I got my MS3 which I love, I found out there was a MSP Extreme (or something like that released in Australia. I love mine but I would have loved that one even more!

Now im angry! Crap!

Your right on the money on how I feel..anytime I hear that oh this badass car wont sell in america..Im like you got thousands of ricers duct taping metal spoilers to this 96 civics to make em "look" faster and worshipping the vtec turbo gods and yet you dont think a 300 hp awesome looking awd hatch wont tell in america? haha..crazy!....Least Ford is looking like they might be getting on a better path :)

keep in mind guys cars here in europe are RIDICULOUSLY over priced. seriously. yeah the evo sure looks nice on paper, but check out that sign and convert that to dollars. I want a VW Sirocco so bad everytime i see one... only when i see how much that damn thing cost in s there just no way.

Most Americans would rather drive the Suburban alone to the grocery store than a hot hatch that gets good mileage. I still laugh at the people that have 2 four-wheel-drives (not AWD, true 4x4's) in the garage that never touch the offroad. Most Americans want straight line power and don't care about handling for the most part. Americans are greedy, they want the biggest and best even if they don't need it.

True..that is the typical way people view Americans..Though I do wish the car market would realize that there are ALOT of us who dont follow that path...Im from Alaska so yeah the crazy 4x4 in the garage that never gets used, does make me chukle, but then again if had a 40 grand 4x4 truck with thousands invested in tires and suspension-lift kit I wouldnt wanna mess it up either, thats why you get a used reliable older toyota pickup or jeep and slap winch tires and all the other goodies and go mudding with that!

couldn't agree more.. i work at a grocery store.. parking my ms3 in the back far away from any carriages =).. but whenever i carry out groceries for some middle aged women, 99% of the time they are in a big ass SUV. although one time this women was driving an SRT-8 Jeep grand cherokee, that impressed me and she had no idea what she had lol.

I don't understand why people want automatic performance SUV's.

^^Maybe she had small penis syndrome?

you guys also get cheaper cars even when your dollar is doing the s****. It amazes me how much cheaper a car is in the USA compared to here in Canada. And the dollar has been good for how long now?

Your statement should rather be, "Why doesn't America make better cars?"

Before buying my MS3, I tested every sporty small car we had to offer, and let me tell you, we make some crappy cars: none of these came close to the quality and driving experience of the MS3, or to the other Japanese alternative for that matter. It's like they take the floatmobile that they make, put in stiffer springs so that everything rattles, and pretend that it's sporty.

But I do agree with you, it would be nice to get cars like the Focus RS, or the other variants you mentioned. I think people here would now pay a small premium for these, especially now that it's not just mid 20-year olds buying these, it's people in their 30s, 40s, etc, who have realized that small cars does not necessarily equal slow crap.

LOL I agree............I just wanted to pick a bone with this topic :) But yes we could do a better job as well...I think that falls into the same picture so to speak.
