ipad deck...

until this post, you actually looked intelligent. now you're just a mouth piece without intellect to back it up.

innovation   [in-uh-vey-shuhn] Show IPA
noun
1.
something new or different introduced: numerous innovations in the high-school curriculum.
2.
the act of innovating; introduction of new things or methods.

verb (used with object)
2.
to introduce (something new) for or as if for the first time: to innovate a computer operating system.
3.
Archaic. to alter.

if we're going to argue definitions so we all "get the point" as you say, then let me "call you on it" with the real definition. don't make up what words mean in your own mind to defend a defenseless position. i can name two devices that do the exact same thing the ipad does. and i have, a million times over, an iphone and an ipod touch...

Well! I must say... I'm rather shocked at the tone and condescending nature of this post. I thought you had more class than that so I can't help but feel disappointed and personally offended.

But this is the internet so I guess personal assaults and lame attempts to insult one's intelligence are par for the course. The fact that you're using the existence of the iPhone and iTouch as reasons why the iPad is NOT innovative is comical to me. Their innovation isn't mutually exclusive. 2 cannot be innovative while the other is not. It just doesn't make any sense! lol I guess that's where the disconnect is.

Regardless... since you took it upon yourself to include the definition of 'innovation' in your post (a rather odd definition I must say) I'll include one myself. No, not the one me and all the other mental patients I share a padded cell with subscribe to... but Websters.

1) The introduction of something new
2) A new idea, method or device.

Notice I didn't include the phonetics or any other irrelevant crap from the definition itself. Only a tool would do that. Oh wait... lol

But seriously... The introduction of something new. Yes, it's an oversized iTouch. We get it already! lol But it's still different enough. It's like saying the mini cooper and mini cooper clubman are the SAME FREAKIN CAR!!! one's a mini and the other's a fugly mess. albeit... basically just a bigger version of the original. yet... they both find a way to exist in this crazy world of ours. Weird! Back on the subject at hand though... Yes, it's extremely similar to an already stellar product Apple makes. As crazy as it might seem... I guess Apple didn't want to mess with the remarkable success and unanimous critical acclaim too much. I know I know... that's just insane. Bottom line: While it may not be as fresh as the original iPhone... it's still a new device. A new method of doing things. People generally don't surf the web (like they do on a traditional computer) on an iPhone. The screen's are simply too small. This will allow them that means... or... to put it another way, provide them with a different 'method'.

Anyway... this will be my last post on this matter. Intelligent debate is one thing but once things cross the line and fall into the gutter I'm out. I don't need to be told I'm a mouthpiece with no intellect. That's just a fancy way of calling me an idiot. Clearly the horse has been beaten to oblivion. Though I will not be buying one (I need to know it can be jailbroken first. It also needs a front facing cam w/4G connection) but... it'll still be a huge hit and, with the help of the developer community, provide a ton of innovation above and beyond what the current crop of Apple products offer.

haha nerd fights.... okay, to end it all right now:
apple was designed for graphic designers, old people, and small children and here is how:

graphic designers: if you can afford their 15k system you can make toy story or any other CG movie with little to no clipping very easily

Elderly/Children: 1 mouse button, not that many wires to get tangled and confuse people
The lack of multitasking is for the elderly and children, who can't hold the attention to multitask (the great percentage of them)

How did apple become popular then you ask? easy: Television and bright colors...

"final post"

i didn't insult anyone's intelligence. you failed to cite real examples. you failed to even read and address statements i made. you couldn't address the facts or points presented with anything other than pro-apple fanboyism. since you weren't able to do any of that, and wanted to "call me on it", alls fair. i wasn't the one making you look the way you did, sorry.

and so to summarize what you last said, even though its the same thing as two devices already released, because those were innovative then that makes this innovative in turn? sorry, doesn't meet the criterion. by your own admission it lacks or needs things even the other devices need.

lets be honest, really if thats possible i know its been hard, apple didn't do anything with this product because they know they don't need to. let's see, three year old repacked tech already bought in volume from overseas assembly lines marked up to a higher price point in a larger shell without the need to now discount through a cell carrier. thats called knowing your how rich and stupid your fan base is and how to stretch your profit margin. it has nothing to do with some recipe for functional brilliance, sorry. apple wants to make money and knows what they can get away with. innovation, function, ability. not part of the equation here. please, take the sunglasses off. this is how the company operates and has for years. this is why every six months they outdate themselves and its planned years in advance.

so yeah, an ipad which costs less to make than an iphone and can be sold without a camera and phone set within for a higher price point, yeah its brilliant - from a marketing standpoint. other than that, anyone with electrified gray matter and the will to examine will see it for what it is and nothing more.

exactly what i've been saying in not so few words. :)

i love when epanties get in a bunch because they can't handle being proven wrong.... welp, back to my cave of trollin for deals on parts

Just because I haven't posted in awhile I just wanted to post a very informative article I read earlier regarding the Ipad... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ytech_gadg/ytech_gadg_tc1353 there as you all can read it is just a larger glorified Ipod touch, I also just started working for Apple through a contractor and Apple hasn't given us much details on it aside from what is in the article other than "it is very similar to the Ipod/Iphone" haha

Ipad, FOR THE LOSS. When will people learn to stop buying Beta build crap that's marketed as good to go. At least wait until they improve it, as we all know that Apple has never gotten a damn thing right the 1st time around. I know they R&D everything....wait, or do they ? ;)

Before you haters start sportin wood... I'm not getting back into a pissing match with anyone. That was clearly a colossal waste of time. And yeah.. I know I said I wouldn't come back but F it. I changed my mind... at least for now.

Assuming you have somewhat of an open mind... read this piece. There's no arguing these points but... I'm sure you haters will try anyway.

that's well and good, and yet they link their own counterpoints in the same article;

i played with out after launch and i'm no more impressed by the unit before it was here. i'll take my touch or phone with me, do the same stuff and pay less for the same apps. it sold as well as i expected it to on launch day, which is to say very well. down the stretch as improvements are made and six months from now when a "newer" model is released, we'll see what apple throws at us next. as of right now, its nothing special. but people will still buy it, and hey, spending money is good for the economy. (2thumbs)

yeah... anyone thinking about getting one should read BOTH of those pieces. I think they sum up the pros and cons quite well. Obviously, for me anyway, I feel the pros outweigh the cons. All the 'crap' a netbook can do I can do (and would rather do) on my home computer. well.. all except video conferencing and flash of course... and multitasking. lol but 4.0 will solve that. and if not, jailbreaking will. So even Gen 1 is a pretty sweet device to have... and with 4.0 it's about to get even better.

if i want something that can read books like a real book, guess what i'll buy... the effin book

hahahah. watch i bet in six months apple will come out with an improved version. thats why i never buy their products. seems like a waste to drop 400 on an iphone when they come out with one how many more times???

Depends on the situation and book. I can see college students benefiting tremendously from a device like this. It's been a decade and my back still hurts from carrying around all those F'in books. Conservatively, my backpack probably weighed close to 10lbs. So let's see... 1lb vs 10lbs? hmm...

As far as books go... there are classics that just have to be read old school. (it's like listening to the white allbum on vynl) In addition, those types of books (novels) don't really need any updates. so as long as they're in good condition... they're good to go. Now think about CPA tax guides, physician's reference books, BS like that. Those get updated all the time. That's where devices like this are really going to shine. It's only a matter of time.

Agreed. But the #s don't lie. 300k units sold on opening weekend aint bad. Apple knows the early adopter types are going to buy anything they put out there. Leaving out such obvious things like a front facing camera, flash & multi-tasking makes good strategic sense. Having all of those things wouldn't have necessarily helped them sell a significant number more since this stage is all about the early adopters. The rest are going to 'wait and see' no matter what. Fast forward a year and they'll have one that'll be 10x better at half the price. They could easily come out with THAT one now (sans the 4G) but they want to play with us and maximize their profits. It's just good business! And they're not alone. My cousin is a chemical engineer at Intel. He tells me they have silicon chips that are ready to go... but won't be available to the consumer for another couple years. They want to milk our wallets...

haha on a "light" day in college my bag weighed about 50lbs and with my laptop and other things for it for "not so legal" things my bag was 60lbs and on a heavy class day (5 classes in a row) my bag was closer to 100.

im used to it so it's no big deal for me.

That s***'s crazy bro. I've always been a less is more kind of guy so if I didn't need it... I wasn't taking it. Maybe 10lbs was a bit of an understatement but 50-100? haha Even soliders don't have that much s*** on their back.

lol well i guess ya have to give em props for doing whatever they do to get people to buy the same product with minor differances over and over and over hahaha
