Map update

N7turbo

2023 CX-5 2.5T ... 2024 MX-5 RF GT
It's time to update my maps from the Amazon SD card I am using (2022 maps).

With so many choices now, and with some of them not listing the date of the maps, it's hard to determine which has the latest maps.

I see many of them appear to be several years old, from 2023, even if they say "latest".

I'd like to find one with the March 2026 update, but so far, no luck.

Any leads?

Before anyone asks: no, I can't update the card:

@N7turbo I thought you had three years to update a navigation card. Are you using Mazda’s website? I know very little about these Mazda navigation cards, so forgive my ignorance.

I am finding some that have 2026 Q1 25Q3 (March 2026) on them, but they state they are for the 2024 CX-5. I am uncertain if this works for pre-2024 without wireless AA/CP or the HUD directions. My thinking is there is a clear delineation for 2024-2025 and 2021-2023 needs a different card.

According to this, out of the 5 listed on the map update page only the KMV6 66EZ1 is for the CX-5. However, it only lists 2024-2025.

The card I currently have is TD2K 66EZ1A.

So then what I need is, ideally, the 2026 Q1 25Q3 (March 2026) update for TD2K 66EZ1.

Mostly if you purchase from the dealer. The cards on Ebay, Amazon are counterfeit. Mazda used to let you update them but not any more.

My conclusion is for us 2023'ers using TD2K66EZ1, it works differently. There is the A, B, and C update:

  • TD2K66EZ1A: Older, initial map database (often representing 2021 data).
  • TD2K66EZ1B: An intermediary update release, typically covering 2022 to early 2023 map snapshots.
  • TD2K66EZ1C: The most recent revision. It features the newest available map database and supersedes (replaces) both the 'A' and 'B' variants. [1, 2]
Because we can't update these cards with the toolbox, we have to buy the C variant and replace the card we have. I'll be looking for one today.

Read this post, it could be your cure.
I am typing from my cellphone, no really good at it. Read the whole thread, maybe you find your answer.

Yes, update as much as you can. I wonder if some dealers sell their excess on Amazon or Ebay.
every time I update it tells my card expires 10.01.2027. this is what my amazon card looks like. I now some others had actual part numbers but this was how it came in a plain clear sd card holder nothing else. I wonder what the oem that were/are included with the signature model look like? I know if I still have the card after 10/27 I will be buying another card as I have become spoiled :)

What I learned today is that that is the tool for 2024+ and does not work for me. I tried that first. Thanks.

it doesnt. They changed the map structure for 2025 (and prob 2024). You need the tool for 2021-2023. Do you need the link?

No, but the worst thing Mazda did was calling BOTH tools Mazda Update Toolbox.

A quick reminder: when you buy your SD card from Amazon or Ebay or any other place, other than Mazda, make sure that the card was not used/not paired with a different VIN number. For my 2020 CX-5 I bought the card from E-bay, had no issues with it. For my current CX-5, again, bought it from E-bay, no issues at all. Both times I asked the seller before the purchase if the card was paired.
