New Wheels! Advan RZ

Fail? Whatever dude.

Anyways  ...It's been two weeks since I said the wheels were supposed to be mounted. The day of, I had to take a business trip from Texas to Augusta, GA. I wasn't able to buy the tires before I left so I was waiting for the right time to get them in Augusta. Two weeks later after settling in and taking care of business, I finally have them on. Now, I already know I'm probably gonna get flamed for buying the tires I wound up getting, but there's a reason behind it so hear me out. My stock Potenzas were bald down to the steel belts so I needed new tires anyways. So what to do? Do I get new tires for the stocks or the new wheels? Obviously the new wheels.

I looked at different reviews and recommendations for tires and decided on the Hankook V12. Knowing I commute over 50 miles one way Monday-Friday, I decided to buy some cheap bs tires until I move closer to my job in June which is less than 10 miles one way. I wound up getting the Wanli 1088. I know they're garbage, I got it. But I'd much rather burn up a set of tires worth $300 than $600 driving this long ass commute everyday. Hopefully none of them give me any trouble and I hope I can at least get 30K out of them, but I'm expecting only around 20K. I'm not looking for ultra performance tires to track on, my car is a daily driver. I just need some good regular tires to get back and forward to work. I honestly don't care what they look like or how well they perform. However, I am concerned about my safety and I don't feel to confident with these tires. You get what you pay for.

I at least I have a plan. Come September, I get a $30K bonus and I'm using it to pay off my Mazda5 and get the Hankooks and have them on standby whenever it's time to change out my tires again. These tires mat not be the best, but from what I've seen in the short amount of time I've had with them, they aren't too bad. It was dark out, but I still took a pic in what little light I had. Consider it a preview. I'll post better ones in the morning.

Glad you finally got them on. They look good. Hope the cheaper tires work out well for ya! I probably would've done the same thing given the situation.

wow they look great man, this is just about the size of wheel im looking to get for my next pair. any rubbing?

It only rubbed once on my way home, but just slightly. I was at about 60mph when there was a sudden change in road height coming off fresh pavement. It was a pretty significant drop so other than that, no rubbing anywhere else. I was going to roll the fenders anyways. I have to wait until I get back home in March, I don't have access to a fender roller out here in Augusta. But I might just do it the old fashioned way, with a bat.

The tires aren't small at all, 235/40/18. They have a slight stretch to them, but just barely. I'm telling you, this is the perfect fitment and tire combo for the RZ. It also comes in 18x9 +45 which is slightly more aggressive and will definitely work. I was going to get these at first, but decided against it thinking it would've been too much poke for me. I have SPC rear camber arms, but I adjusted them to stock specs knowing I wanted an aggressive fitment. Once I got the wheels I wanted, I was going to make adjustments as needed. So I think I'm sitting at -2 in the rear, I'm not sure.

All I have is my camera phone so the picture detail isn't going to be all that great. As soon as the sun comes up, I'll post better pics.

18x9 45+ up front will definately not work up front, rim will hit suspension. maybe 40+ or 38+

You're right, I forgot about that. A 5mm spacer should fix that. The only other low offsets they come in for 18x9 is +25 and +35 and that won't work for us. Now that I think about it, I think thats why I decided against that fitment. The only low offset in 18x8.5 is +31 and that won't work either. 18x8 comes in +37, but those are the only sizes that come with the GTR Face. I think I got the right fitment.

Ok, I finally got some pics. They aren't the best since it's a camera phone and it's cloudy outside because it's about to rain. A couple came out a little dark, but here you go.

Thanks man, I agree 100%. I actually considered trading the car in for a BMW 135i or 335i, but these wheels look awesome and gives the car a whole new look. I think I'll be keeping it a bit longer.

mmm wow those look mint. im lookin for a new summer wheel. but i think i might have to settle for the rota g-force. advans are $$ but soo nice... great choice man

Not all tires look the same. Some look beefier than others although they're all the same size. It just depends on the manufacturer.

Looks great! The stance of the car works well with the wheels.

=] loving it flushness and concave face what more could u ask for

They turned out better than I thought. They weren't my first choice. I originally ordered the T6. Upgrade Motoring called me back and told me it was just recently discontinued. I was pissed and was forced to settle for the RZ. All the way until the day of them getting put on the car, I was still iffy. Now that I finally see them on the car, I couldn't be happier.
