NEMOC Random BS Thread

yeah, that's a tough call.

although honestly, if I were you and lived where you lived, I'd probably opt for the x over the ci.

Granted, you probably want the coupe, but the x is a lot more practical.

I know what you are saying but I do not want an AWD BMW. Very poor reliablity with the system. If I wanted AWD I would be looking at Subies.

Yea, they are on crack for asking that much.

For real...I paid $17k for my '04 with only 7,000 miles on it (bought this past summer) and I knew I was paying a little much for an '04...but it was practically new so I really didn't mind.

For that '06 with that mileage....theyre on crack. They list it that high so dumb people can talk them down and feel like they got a great deal...but in reality the dealer still made a killing.

yeah, that's much more like it. I bet you can get that one for 10.5K or 11K. engine warranty is 8 years 100K, so you cool there.

What are you RX guys averaging for hwy mileage?
20-21 for my 2005, with both my the original and the replacement engine. if bruce drove it, he'd probably get 24.

this was my mpg vs % highway driving from way back. so numbers at the right are 100% hwy. with my driving style and about 60% hwy, i would get about 17mpg avg.

~20 mpg...but I drive like an idiot. That 18 road-24 highway rating is pretty spot on imo.

I like the gray one for a couple reasons...

1) low mileage
2) the price is a lot more reasonable..you could probably talk them down another $1,000 or so
3) It's completely stock which means you can be pretty damn sure someone like me (who doesn't know %@^& about cars) didn't tinker around under the hood.

On a side note...I cringe when I see an 8 without a spoiler. I don't know why it just looks..wrong. /shrug.

I know the 8 does not get that great mpg. I want to replace a 03 Altima V6 with a sporty coupe. So I'm comparing the 8 with a M3, 330ci, G35c, and GTO. GTO gets 26 from a V8. I drive 90% hwy.

Eh, I was tempted on a G35 coupe. Test drove it and the Z. Liked them, but did not fall in love as I did with the 8. That's what it boils down to. Forget gas mileage, other peoples opinions and such. In the end it's you who will be driving the car.

For me, the first time I had seen the RX-8 in 2003, to my first test drive I knew I wanted it badly. So I waited a few years. Let me put it to you this way. With every other car I have owned (16), I always went out for test drives while owning them. Ever since I bought the RX-8, I have never taken a test drive or have thought I wanted something else.

Anyone got any idea how high I should go with this auction? ..assuming I were going to fight for it. I've got no idea what panels/leather seats are worth and the more I look at this auction the more I want to bid on it for the hell of it.

Why not see if someone local would want to swap? Marc did it with his RX-8. You're looking at about $800 total I bet when the auction is done.

w00t, installed the mazda6 rear wiper on the p5! it really wipes the llama's ass!

also, cleanest oil change ever. and fastest. 30 minutes and spilled three drops.

decided to put off the rear bearings for another night... the hub cap wasn't popping off so easily and my knee was asking me to stop crouching. and i forgot to grab a 36mm socket.

ALSO: my exhaust leak at the cat to catback flange is back... the damn thing is rotting away. Anyone has a decent shape stock P5 or MSP cat laying around?

I'm not a guy but... :p lowest I've ever gotten was 15.6 mpg but I generally average around 17 with very very little highway driving. My way to work involves only secondary highways. I'd get up to 20 mpg with highway driving with an average 19-20 (likely with some screwing around with lower gear pulls for S&G). I've gotten as much as 22.5 mpg at 100% highway with the cruise set.

I love the GTO and G35C but I'm sure if I drove them they wouldn't feel even close to as comfortable as I am now. The 8 just feels right... I knew that was the car for me as soon as I sat in it. And the insane amount of RPMs makes up for a lack of power. I never get bored driving it.

Have to agree with Gary... lack of a spoiler on an 8 makes me feel weird.. sorry James :p
