SRI - Cobb or K&N?

When you hit the throttle WOT at launch the air draw through the intake whether SRI or CAI is very powerful. We're talking about a tiny sub-fraction of a second to move colder than engine bay air outside that extra 3-4 feet to displace the volume of warmer air already present in the tube. We're talking about huge amounts of air being sucked into the engine when you go WOT.
That problem is more commonly found on N/A cars as there is not compressor sucking in air like there is on an F/I car. You could get a bit of torque loss and hesitation with an N/A car, but with F/I it is just so minimal that it can't really be measured. Most people go SRI because it shows gains that are just as good (maybe 1-3WHP less), and because of their ease of instilation and servicing.

i see they have the CS SRI available in red as well.... is it me, or does the picture on the website make the filter and tubes look pink?

We got a little crazy with the flash settings on the camera. Here's an installed pic with a better camera:

The synthetic media picks up the camera flash like crazy. The blue filter looks a darker in person also.

So between K&N, CP-E, Cobb and Corksport, we should get some measurements going!

I'm currently shopping to replace my MSCAI and I keep going back and forth between Cobb and CP-E. Then, Corksport's piece is impressive, but I don't know about those horizontally facing air straighteners (when everyone else's are vertical). And I wonder what K&N is doing to make their gains better? WTF?

A question I have is how many of these, if any, are CARB certified? I have to worry about emissions and such out here in CA, so if something is CARB certified it will probably make my life a bit simpler.

I thought the Corksport straightener was an insert you can install and remove at will. YOU can orient the straighteners any way you like. Check back a few posts in this thread and see.

Having started to look into that recently, I can tell you that K&N and Corksport are NOT certified.
