DDM Tuning Apexcone Raptor HID Kit - $30 plus shipping

Just returned my bad DDM HID bulbs today! Man, can't wait to get these dang things in my freaken MP3!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody else had theirs go bad?

Yes, the first set of 6000K bulbs I bought from them with the more expensive 55W slim kit were bad. They replaced with no fuss, took a little while to get them shipped, but overall it was easy and pain free.

Good luck with the 55w kit, I bet you're gonna get flashed like crazy.

I drive on back roads all the time, which requires use of brights to avoid all the deer and other critters running around. I've never been flashed while having my 55w kit installed. Having them aimed down really does help. They're bright, no doubt, but they're not enough to have drawn extra attention from the po-po yet. I haven't been hassled by any cops yet (*knock on wood*), and my dad, who is a cop, said he's never pulled anyone over for "improper" lighting, unless it's someone with a light out.

I'm only spending around $250 dollars. It's not expensive as most people think.

it is unless you're capable of doing the work yourself... the parts aren't ridiculously expensive, but the labor to get it right typically is. seeing as you have a connection there, you will save substantially.

There are many DIY's around, if people looked it up they would be surprised how easy it is. If you can work on your car, you can do this no doubt.

honestly, I know a number of guys who do extensive work on their cars.. an to do an HID retrofit, come out with a good looking, equally good functioning product... you do need to have a significant amount of skill in areas that are much different than wrench spinning.

i'm not saying you're wrong or it isn't doable.. I just don't want people thinking if they grab a pair of projectors and a saw, they can run off and make a pair of projector headlights in a weekend... there is a lot of.. finesse involved.

Oh yeah, I forgot to post the pics of my lights. Who still has 56k dialup anymore?

Low beams are 5000k, fogs are 3000k.

Yes, the car is full of salt. This is a Wisconsin winter... comes with the territory.

Also, the pics are hosted at photobucket, where they won't put a strain on the forum's servers (yippy)

one thing that people want to remember when installing the H4 bulbs in the 99-00 protege's is to check and make sure the red and white (high and low beam) wires are aligned in their correct spots when you plug in the old bulb harness to your new HID plug, mine were switched around and i had no high beams...
just a forewarning for those going to buy or install.

but overall, a really great value and product, plus i like that i actually have high beams now! :)

just ordered a kit of hi and low hids for my protege5. i choose 8000ks , is there anyone with a picture ? im wondering if ill like those.

4500k are like pure super whites, the higher you go, the more blue you go, till it even get purple the highest. So, 8000 would probably be somewhat more blue colored.

if i would of know ... i think ill order a kit of 4500ks for the low beam if i dont like them.

what...more then 6000K is ricer? what makes you say that
i had 10000k way before all the hondas and i liked the light output which is why i got them, it was like a really light blue,
but they are way bad during bad weather so i got the 3000Ks which are like a piss yellow and now i can see pretty much in any weather

i like them alot, that picture with all the colors doesnt do them justice, thoes look lke reg color bulbs but the light they put out is really yellow

different manufacturers have different ratings...really.

one companies 6000k will be blue while anothers will be white.
I believe raptors run a little higher in color (bluer at lower ratings)

and lol @ the yellow snow.

yellow = more visibility?

You can see better with the 3000K in any weather? I don't understand why that would help you see more over the "whiter" lights. I'm not disagreeing, I just don't understand the idea behind that.
