On clogged urban streets, the Mazdaspeed 3 can become a bit of a pain, all high-strung and impatient. Despite Mazda’s claims of improved ride quality, deep potholes produced the kind of suspension crashes that make you see stars. But the Mazdaspeed 3 comes radiantly alive on open roads, where I was again boggled by its combination of attack-dog bravado and sophisticated handling.
