Any Way to Limit Boost for Daily Driveability?

Like the title states, is there any way of limiting the boost through the use of a boost controller to run, lets say 12 psi instead of 15.6? Just wondering...

boost controllers only increase the amount of boost you run.

If you want to limit boost maybe you could take a small drill and drill a nice hole in one of your boost tubes? :D

Seriously, though, you'll need some ECU adjusting to do what you're asking. I.E. accessport

What if you were to disconnect the Boost Control Solenoid...wouldn't the boost then be controlled by the wastegate alone (~10psi)?

its been done before. I know there was a thread about it somewhere....

it is a very simple unplug. I believe the guy trying it blew his motor though...although, I am skeptical that this was the direct cause.

Yes, it is the best way (there are no drawbacks). It takes only a few seconds to do (or undo).

Boost will be limited to ~10PSI on a stock MS3 (boost will be higher with certain mods) and the turbo will spool up more slowly.

Are there tunes you can load up with accessport to accomplish this? To keep the boost from rolling on too soon? Sorry for the noob question.

sorry to beat a dead kickin screamin horse here but umm..really cant go wrong with driving style..just keep your foot off it..Honestly im running nearly 300 @ the wheels and still getting about 29-31 hwy..im averaging 26-27 mpg street-city-hwy driving..and thats with me puting my foot into it quite a few times..so if you drive conservative you should get very reasonable mpg without trying any houdini tricks on your car...just my 2 cents

+1 This is the obvious solution. No modifications necessary. Learn to control your foot. I've had to drive around with no boost the last few weeks due to a failing fuel pump, and all it takes is some discipline and self control.

went to occ this weekend, 100 miles each way. averaged 32 mpg at 80mph. car is tuned for 18psi. learn to drive. that is all.

I just loosen the bolts on my BPV. Works great! Sarcasm just so we are clear...
