I don't have a dash hawk or boost gauge, so how can I tell if my stocker is effed. I tried searching and apparently the term BPV doesn't bring up anything.(deadhorse(deadhorse

search "Forge BPV". Are you getting big drop off's in boost between gears and then the boost comes back up hard and bucks the car? If so, the Forge BPV will fix this issue, it did for me.

If money is tight, get a boost gauge or borrow one for a temporary check. You need something to monitor boost. Otherwise, you're just guessing about what is going on.

You might want to check the "sticky" at the top of this section of the forum.

i remember seeing somewhere that if you take the bpv off and de-press the diaphragm and covered the recirc fitting and it didnt hold suction then it was bad.

Get a gauge. Borrow a gauge. Respectfully, stop guessing. All that "test" you describe will tell you is if it's totally shot. That's not a good way to check for high pressure leak downs or erratic behavior, IMHO. If you are going to mod this engine, you need to know what it's doing before you add the mod or make the change and how it's responding to the mods.

This is correct. If you perform that test and it fails then you know its bad BUT if it passes there is a chance it might still be bad.
