they clean up a head by steam cleaning it.... hot tanking it will just melt the head into a blob!

its obvious this head wasn't cleaned because no work was done on it except milling the surface

Miguel look into getting Evans waterless coolant, it can drop cylinder temparatures by 50 degrees or more and it's 100% coolant surrounding the cylinder at all times !!

Cmon guys, everything is going to get cleaned up even the carbon build up in the valves, head is not ready to be installed yet.. Most of you already know me i like to have everything done right so.

running either strait is stupid. anti-freeze doesn't transfer heat like water does... and water obviously leads to corrosion.... no water probably contributed to blowing the HG.

I blew my head gasted do to an unspected overboost of 38 PSI without proper tune, i was playing around with my Greddy E-01 EBC and i guess didnt set it up right and that lead me to a insane spike of 38 psi as mentioned above not because of water or coolant.

the problem is the protege's coil packs have a built in igniter, which calls for special electronic controls for them... thats why other aftermarket ignition upgrades like MSD don't work with them... thats why you need a protege specific J&S for it to work on the protege

So, if aftermarket ignition coils (e.g. Bosch) are being used - say with a Microtech - then there is really no need to have a Protege specific Safeguard or whatever the new version is going to be?

I'd imagine the aftermarket units follow the same design as stock, assuming they are stock replacements.

*BREAKING NEWS*

There will be J&S avail. shortly for protege's, we just need some ppl to put the order down. :)

would that be NPG or NPG+ one ?

I'm assuming your using it, from reading some info on it this coolant operates in lower pressure then the regular coolant. Looks to me that the coolant system will be in half the pressure compare in case of regular coolant.

any thoughts on that ?

Miguel - keep up the good work :)

Go with the + or even better the NPG-R. This would be good for miguel cause he lives in a warm climate. Not sure for NJ though, as the coolant turns into Gel under -10 degrees...

Yeah, NPG+ looks like a safer bet.

I'll go with that next summer when I forge the motor since now I can't empty the engine w/o taking it apart.

How you liking it so far ?

They are definitely not like the stock ignition system! ;)

They run off the Microtech X4 ignition add-on and run individual cylinder spark rather than batch-fire.

BTW - anyone else wants a J&S w/ 8ch and many other features lmk so we can get good price as well :)

Miguel where are the updates !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been very busy lately and no work have been done to the engine so far. I'll get back to it this coming week, let's see if i can put the whole engine together to just drop it in the car and start the break in process to then proceed to the tune and up the boost to the level we want.. I'd say in 2 weeks or so car have to be in full potential and ready to be driven again.. Of course pictures and details are also coming this week I should also receive my Knock light and sensor either tuesday or wednesday since Tracking info says is already here in Spain but at customs posession to process it.

This time this bad boy have been done by me. And i feel a little more proud than before and iam sure well be back bigger, better and stronger !!!
