NEMOC Random BS Thread

Well Mark just left, not too long ago. Got his brakes done. Ran into issues with the Driver's rear caliper. We needed to replace the cailper but it was stuck to the slider. We were able to get the bracket off and then cut off the slider and added a new one to the bracket. Put it all back together, went for a test drive and noticed the oen we replaced was running very hot. The adjuster had failed.

Pulled it off, went back to Advance and we were able to get a replacement. Put it back together, went for another test and was good.

Great day spent wrenching. Hope you got home ok and don't forget to get some brake fluid.

My sister's F700 Compaq failed, I think it's the same type of mobo as your HP comp. I replaced the mobo off ebay for a $100, not the easiest of job, but fairly straightforward. It works now, but i'm never buying a Compaq or an HP laptop again.

yes, and i learned a lot too! so, got home safe and already added the fluid! the brakes worked flawlessly! thanks for the help and use of the garage!!(thumb)

Yup, the motherboard in my HP DV9000 laptop is toast. Seems HP has huge complaints about this series. Here's some Class Action info: http://www.worldlawdirect.com/forum...s-overheating-damage-motherboard-failure.html

Bought a new DELL laptop, but I'm wondering if it's worth it to try and replace the motherboard for the HP which I can buy for around $100.

Never been a big fan of those. Been using Thinkpads for most of my career. Sony and Acer make nice laptops.

Hey great news!! Glad we could finally put the brakes on your car. Had a fun time.

Love SONY for their TVs, but not much else. I've never had an issue with a SONY. In fact our 50" LCD is 5 years old now and in perfect working order.

sorry Josh, I just had to...

funniest picture I've seen in awhile, and yet we all expected it...

Sony makes overpriced laptops.

agreed but you can find deals. Bought a great 13" WS for my daughter, who has a habit of destroying any electronic device I have given her. It has held up well. She dropped it and broke the screen, which was fixed under warranty, after over a year it is still running like a champ.

61 miles today on the bike...I think the longest ride I've ever been on...and I havn't been biking in almost 3 weeks..ouch!

61.71 mi in 04:20:04 hours at 14.24 mi/h ODO: 1013.2! Max: 35.1!

Gonna hurt big time tomorrow...biking to class as well!

stopped in Newburyport for lunch.

In my defense there were heavy winds and pine needles covered the car. It was light rain at that point. Mary ran and grabbed the camera because she thought it was funny.

Had a fantastic time at the sox game, beat the jays 7-0. Great weather, had dinner at Lansdown Pub and walked along the Charles afterward.
