Hey, thought I'd mention... I was talking to a Mazda dealer about trading up to a 2010 MS3 yesterday and they gave me 13.5k for trade. My car is an 08 GT, immaculate with only 23k miles. KBB and Edmunds say like 16-17k for trade, so I mentioned that to them, and he said the guy who quoted the 13.5 actually got confused when he looked at the amount today and "thought he must have bumped his head". The sales manager said 11-12 would be a more reasonable amount for a niche car, but the 13.5 was already on paper so I'd better act fast 
That's pretty much the dealer jerking you around right there. They usually start with a really crappy offer, and then when you try and get more, they say "oh whoops, we screwed up, it was actually supposed to be this" and then they give you an even lower offer. Trust me it happens ALL the time. They try and scare you into taking their first really crappy offer, don't fall for it.

I can't understand why some people buy a car for like 25k drive it a yr and then turn around and trade it at a 10k lose.. This is beyond me, totally freakin retarded. I wouldn’t really consider a 2010 MS3 as a big enough “upgrade” from a 07-09 MS3 either. Granted it’s got a few more features and might handle slightly better, you can just upgrade your 1gen MS3’s suspension, etc instead and save a s*** ton of money in the long run and have a car that performs just as good or most likely better for far less money.
I agree with you, it's absolutely not a practical decision. Go drive the 2010 though, and tell me it's not a big enough upgrade. The driveability is VASTLY improved. After 23k in my car I still can't drive it smoothly (clutch). I pulled away from the curb for the first time in the 2010 and made it all the way through the gears without any bucking, surging, or slipping. It was devine.
It also has re-worked suspension that lessens the crab walking effect that you get under power on the 08's (don't know the details on the changes). Everyone says this is a non-issue, but I caused an accident on the freeway that totaled a Malibu by crabwalking towards the next lane and freaking out a guy in a Commander.
My car is paid off, and I could upgrade to the 2010 for a few thousand bucks (not 10k). Again, it's not practical, but that's why I was in there exploring my options.

Word! Especially after mega $$$$$ upgrades! Nawww, I'll keep what I got until the model itself, like 300ZX, just goes out of style. Matter-of-fact, I would not even dream about trading my 2008 for that YESH looking front design of the 2010. I also have a Nissan Sentra SER Spec V 2003, and WAS looking at the UGLY 2009 BOX-look edition of Nissan's SER makeover.... Hello MS3.

Yeah I have driving the 2010 MS3; it’s nice but by no means could a fathom trading in my 08 for one. It is NOT a big enough up grade by any stretch of the imagination. It drives a little smoother and the clutch is lighter but that’s about it, otherwise it’s just like the 1gen. I did drive it hard BTW and it actually felt slower if anything, the ECU is constantly cutting power/ torque back for a “smoother” ride. I prefer the raw nature of the 1st GEN and if you use enough finesse driving it “smooth” isn’t all that difficult. Not only is it not "practical" to so call "upgrade" to a 2010 it's ridiculous, especially when you're losing thousands.

yea those 370z look nice..id just just the ms3 for couple more years. But dealers will alwas lowball ya on trade it is that it is. when I traded my 2007 civic si 8 months ago for my ms3..some dealers were only giving me 14-15,000 for it..and it only had 19,000 miles on it..I wanted 16,500. Then Found a Mazda dealer that actrully gave 17,000 for it..then turned around and told it for high 19's....which was good cause I got a fair trade it value and they still made profit from the civic and the ms3 gt price was 21,900....I was alittle upside down but not tooo bad..and Im happy..but sheez I even had a subie dealer offer me 13,000 for the si..and im like no..at that time...2007 civiv si's with 20k or less were going for 19-20000..and mine was the fuji blue pearl fully loaded with ground effects kit-sunroof and knew that vehicle was going to sell fast. But dealers will try to **** you in your ass with no lube so hard usually..The only credit I can kinda give em is that with new cars thay honestly cant budge too much cause the invoice and sticker price is not that much..they make their money from the long term loan and interest...Tha being said if you could get a screamin deal for the 370z and could live with 2 seats than yeah..and it might not feel as fast..but dont they run 13.3 stock with 107mph traptimes stock..thats very nice...As for the 350z..ive heard few times the new ones with the 306 hp engine are alot faster than the 287 hp older ones..I think thats true to a degree..maybe better gearing who knows..But Ill still take my ms3 over a 306hp 350z.....cause my car pulls pretty dam hard...But yeah keep the ms3..own it mod it and enjoy it..think the blown engine thing is just scaring people too much..how many stupid kids are running these cars with long oil changes or im proper driving? I bet if you add it all up and get the facts behing the story its not that bad..though yes there are a few cars out there that got babied and still blown..but you disect anycar on the road right now and your gonna find things too...okies got off subject here lol...goodluck with the decision
