Car feels like it surges a bit at higher speeds ?

Hey everyone looking for a little insight on a small problem I ran into with the MS3. The other day I got a wild hair up my ass to romp on it while getting on the freeway. While speeding up the car felt fine and pulled normal untill I hit about 85-90 mph around then the car started to feel like it was hitting a split second cutoff and then it would continue on for a second and then feel like it was hitting a split second cutoff again. It was like the car had the hicups is how I could explain it I guess. The power didn't completely die, the car was still pulling but for the split second it was much less of a "hard" pull like normal. My mods are in my sig and I have the blue spring with 2 shims in the BPV. I have been thinking about taking a shim or both out to see if it solves the problem but I had not experienced any problems before with this same set up (been blue with 2 for 7k miles).

I am not sure what boost cut or fuel cut feels like but with my mods I wouldn't expect to see either happen. I am not too concerned beings that I rarely rip on the car and going 80+mph is kind of rare for me (call me grandpa if you'd like :)) . If anyone has any suggestions or ideas as to what it may be besides chainging out the springs/shims in the BPV please chime in.

I have experienced this cutting out momentarily in fifth gear. I think I remember reading on this forum that it has to do with the SRI, and that the Cobb AP will tune this out.

Thanks! I plan on getting an AP so I guess I will find out. If anyone has any other ideas feel free to chime in!

When you are hammering it pay attention to the tach. (And of course the Police!!) If you delay shifting to the next gear it will act retarded. In the MS3 its best to shift early than late since the MS3 poops out early!! At least thats what my Grandma says!!

hahah I always shift 500-700 before red-line when I do get on it. I have noticed the car falls on it's face well before it's actual red-line just like your Grandma haha. I hope to change out the spring in the bpv and see what it does. This problem seems to be hit or miss so figuring it out could be a hassle.

Shift at 5,500, no later than 5,800 rpm. The K04 turbo runs out of steam by then and the ECU actually starts closing the butterfly on the intake. The engine simply falls on its face after 6,000.

Max hp is reached at 5,500 and it falls quickly after 5,800. Max torque is back around 4,000. So the shift at 5,500 will drop you back to about 4,400 or 4,500 in the fat part of the power curve where you want to be.

See if this solves your problem. If not, you may have an adjustment issue on your BPV. I still prefer the stock BPV. Seems to work great for me with my mods. Let us know how things go.

Thanks for the advice/tips! I still have the stock BPV so if it comes down to it I will put it back on and see how the car responds!
