driver side, when i start to take off this i hear this whistling noise on the driver side and cannot figure out what is can be. can anyone help me out on this?

Could be a loose piece of plastic. I hope that whatever the sound is, that it is intake noise. Could also be hearing your turbo.

i highly dought it because it just recently started to make the noise...but i hope its nothing serious

No i dont have boost gauge, i need to get one. My driveability is good and there is no sputtering or bucking

No offense.... but, is it your intake? The MSP can have a pretty gnarly intake whistle, I can personally attest for the injen CAI being loud.

do you really think it is... i guess i am going to have to pay more attention to it to see if it is

Check and see if the noise gets louder when you accelerate fast Vs. Slow.

Also, do you hear it when you are just rolling in nutral. If you only hear it when you are on the Gas pedal, then its your Intake. Might be getting dirty, and needs to be changed.

When was the last time you changed the filter?

If it's the intake, you'd hear it whenever you gave it a little gas, but you'd probably hear it most prominently when starting from a stop.

If you're hearing it at low speed (i.e. taking off from a stop) and it's loud enough to hear inside the cabin, I can almost guarantee it's just the intake. I've got a carbon fiber hood (light, and no sound insulation) and the intake whistle is pretty ridiculous.

If it's not the intake could be a pressure leak somewhere like the BPV or a vaccum line.

See, and any leak severe enough to hear while driving the car should cause terrible drivability issues. When reinstalling my throttle body, I didn't make a good enough gasket, and the leak was barely audible with my head in the engine bay, but the car ran like absolute ass.

If your MSP is stock, though, I don't know how easy it would be to hear the intake. I test drove a stocker and could not hear the turbo spooling even under what would be high boost on my car.

Could be a crack in the plastic hot or cold piping? I know thoughs are pron to do that. Don't know what it sounds like though. Something like that I guessing though.

His sig says he's got an Injen CAI. If it was a stock intake, I'd agree with ya, but intakes have been known to whistle pretty loudly on this car

Ya I have the Injen CAI too and it screams under boost. Thats probably what it is. (Sry didnt see the sig)
Mine is more of a sucking sound than a whistle, but it is probably the same. Clean the filter?

well i changed the filter about a month ago, but the whistling noise only comes when i am driving...

Ya it sounds like intake noise to me. The whistling noise does not occur when you are at a stop because the turbo is not spooling up. When you gas it, the turbo spools, but delays a little bit, which makes it sound like your whistle goes with your accelleration. If you push in the clutch, or let go of the throttle, the sound will stop too. 99% sure you are hearing your turbo. Enjoy the sound!
