AT light on and engine service on. No shifting

Hi, Im new in this forum.
I have a problem. My car is a Mazda 3 2006, engine 2.3lt with automatic transmission. (5 gear)
This starts when the battery fails in the road, it starts to put the AT sign and the service engine on. The car starts to shift the gear with a lot of problem, then in fail down to 3rd gear, the dashboard goes off and the AT light on.
I drove it to service line in a dealer nearest to me. About 60 km. Then, they said the battery is not charging well and was necesary to change it. They change it in 2 hours and give my car again. But all seems right after a drive in cruise control for about 60 minutes. Then all starts again. I call my insurance company to send me support with a crane they took the car to my house. Then with my mechanic we saw the problems. It seems that the groun wire is burnt. The PCM flashes out. And the alternator has a problem.
With patience and money we bring back the car. Now Im having problems with the transmission. I drive it with a specialist and they said to me that the problem is not mechanic, its probably electronic. The workshop manual give me an idea. There they say that de transaxle range switch must be revised. Can anyone knows the number part for this?.

Thanks

Today, in the morning I probe the car and everything works very fine. At noon when I tried again, the problem starts again. I hear a noise, that seems new to me. Is like an electric motor that sounds when I change the gear. What is that?, tomorrow we are going to scan the car and I will able to put here the error codes.

Good night fellows,

i has the similiar problem, i have a 2004 mazda 3i 2.0 engine 4 speed auto. the at sign would come on and the tranny would lag and wouldnt switch gears, brought it to the dealer, the light was of, so they couldnt find anythin, then i left the car there, and while they test drove it, the light starting acting up so they ran the code and it was the autmatix transaxle sensor. nothing serious, replaced it, everything works great. i believe the repairs cost under 100 bucks but im not sure i have to look in the records.
good luck

the autmatix transaxle sensor? please enlighten me on what this is. i'm a mazda tech and i've never heard of this sensor before. based on what was posted by the OP i would lean towards the TSS (turbine speed sensor) first but without further diag i can't be sure

the name may be off a bit...there's a sensor that if not working correctly/faulty, will send the auto tranny into limp mode. the car basically stays in like 3nd gear and won't shift (to protect itself forma ny damage) i had to replace mine on the p5...every once and a while it would go into limp mode because of this sensor...i'll see if i can find the correct name...
i did...
Input/turbine speed sensor malfunction

automatic transaxle sensor is what it's called. it locks the gear for some reason ( possibly protecting from the damage as the guy on top said, but im not a technician and dont really know. it's been to act up on mazda 3's). after gettin it replaced, the problems goes away. i had it replaced at about 60k. i thought my tranny went out but thanks god it was just a sensor. There is a code which i dont rememebr from the top of my head but i can provide it if you guys really need it,i have all the service papers

sorry i have to call your bluff on this one there is no sensor call the automatic transaxle sensor. thats like saying there is an engine sensor.

Could be transmission "range switch" when it's bad it will cause "limp home" mode, 2nd and 3rd gear only will work

ok here is what my record states:
Concern: Cust sates at times "AT" light comes on and car will not come out of 3rd gear (transaxle Light)
Cause: Diganose code P0715
Correction: R & R Turbine speed shaft sensor circuit part retest ok
Part Number : MAZ FN01-21-550

I had same problem, Engine light on and AT light on, 3er Gear all the time.
Dealer replaced a Shift Solenoid ($250.00) Problem solve 13,000 miles ago.

hmm im having the same issue but the tranny shop i took it to says i need a rebuild and that my tranny is slipping.....
it changes into 4th a 40kph and at 60 if its in 3ed will shake.

i had a similar problem. shop says they replaced a sensor on the outside of the trans. problem came back. now they are saying its a sensor on the inside of the trans. can anyone confirm if there is something in there that could case this again? thanks
