Compare you car to a MS3

I love thisthread, I love bench racing. It's the cheapest form of racing you can do. You may never win and every one loves to argue about it.

Just a note. If this thread spawns into a big exchange of stories about street racing, or if it spawns into one huge argument in general (which would prolly happen if some of the MS3 owners came in here and started running their mouths) .. then the thread will be closed.

Nicely discussed so far though, guys. Please continue! :D

yes please don't turn my thread into a flame war. i onlt wanted to know how you fare agaist the mighty MS3, thanks Rush.

Wow dude. I would very much like to see u do this.

me too....
Key word here guys is "stock". I have no delusions of being faster than a modified MS3, especially with the way they take to modifications. From a dig was at an 1/8th mile track, from a roll, well I can't talk about that here... Call it bad driving or whatever (I suck at launching as well) but I had the MS3 beat the whole way.

a modded protege/msp can definitely beat a stock ms3. i'm going to the track in a few weeks, so i'll see how i will do against some modded speed3s.

hmmm.... i don't race so i don't really care hahah...

i still WANT another protege. but will probably not own one again. the power curve and more so the gear ratios in the MS3 KILL it in a quater mile... modified ms3 are shifting into 5th in a quarter mile.. WTF...

thats one GOOD thing about the next gen coming out is that they changed the gear ratio...

completely agree with you on that one the gears on the ms3's are way to short they should have copied dodge with the srt-4 neon they have taller gears and works much better with cars that have lots of torque

thats very true, i know someone with a suber crazy insane fast WRX (10 sec in the 1/4) and he shifts into 5th at almost exactly the 1/8 at the track hahaha (ricer)

I actually agree with you on this. When i first test drove the ms3. It seemed alittle slower to me than the msp. I just think look wise. MSP>MS3 :)

you also have to take into consideration how much tire can you get under an msp... 215.. MAYBE 225? that 300 HP msp withh most likely have a 215 tire... that 300HP(in the owner is smart) have 235, or 245 under neath him...

Just food for thought, but i LOVE both cars...

If the ms3 was made in a sedan i would have considered that over my MSP when i was looking for a car, but the MSP looks better by far. who cares if i cant beat in a race, that's why i will be building a camaro soon enough.

I am not saying that it is impossible I just don't think it is likely. The reason is this. I don't see how a 215-220whp P5 is going to beat a 240whp MS3. I am in complete agreement with your earlier argument that a 200hp p5 will beat a 200hp ms3 or a 250 vs 250 or a 300 vs 300 and so on....What I don't see happening is a higer hp/tq ms3 losing to a lower hp/tq p5. I think in your case, you had a drive of an MS3 that hadnt figured out where/when to shift or drive the ms3 properly.

How come I never see these types of threads in the MS3 section? This is the second of its kind in a week. What handles better, who is faster.... Torque gets you down the strip. HP gives you top end.

Lets see.....

MSP = 8000$ you can get a good one for

MS3 = 20,000ish

If you got both STOCK, then lets see..... 20,000 minus 8,000.... is 12,000. Yeah... 12,000 Can build the FU** out of a MSP (motor wise) :) So if you spend 3,000 in mods on the MS3, thats even 3,000$ MORE on the MSP! Ill take the MSP :D

yes but your also getting a brand new car lol

you don't see these there?? You need to read more......How many ms3 vs 350z/sti/evo threads are there over there...?
well wait, i guess i actually I might have an explanation for this. The problem is that the MS3 thread usually turn into bickering, street racing, or someone getting banned. So typically, we jsut delete those threads which could why you really don't see them. (thumb)

LOL... I dont see this thread putting those cars into the mix when MS3's are beating STI's from a roll as well. Guess I dont pay attention to them until now. For some reason they are sticking out. All I can say is if the Protege is that bad ass I hope no one here sells theirs. They will regret it... I guess.

Weight, weight, weight. 300-400 lbs is a huge difference! Not to mention what has already been said: gearing, boost-limiting, fall-off in power above 5500 RPM, etc. Not that it matters, I'm trying to sell my P5 anyway...
