not exactly, its more like where that plastic is that covers the cam gears.

i never did see the crack....just pick up a new one....a few people are selling them on here or if you got a local salvage yard...go get one there....you can use one from just about any protege with the 2.0

I'm confused. It looks like the crack is in your timing belt cover, but there isn't oil in there (for you belt's sake there better not be :)), so maybe you just have a leaking valve cover gasket that looks like oil coming out of that crack.

More pictures

(uhm)here are some more pictures i wonder what the thing actually is and how it could have cracked

ive only had my valve cover off once so my memory may not be that good but technically there shouldnt be oil behind that because thats where your timing belt is. maybe you have a bad cam seal and your timing belt is flinging it around i dunno. if i were you id take off the valve cover and look. its really simple to do but the valve cover gasket is kinda expensive. you dont need any special tools to do it. if you do have oil on your timing belt id replace it though after you fix your leak.

Agreed. There is no way your timing belt cover should be leaking oil - I would get that valve cover off ASAP and check your timing belt and cam seals. Yeah, the gasket's like $30, but if it's never been replaced, it would be a good time to do so.
