Cold Suspension Squeek'n'Creak - fixed by dealer bushing replacement

Well, the dealer replaced my stabilizer bar bushings, front and rear, and although its only 10F outside so far the squeeking is gone. I'll have to wait for the temps to dip again before I can really test it, but it no longer sounds like I'm dragging the bottom of the car on the road.

No negative anomalies so far, and my car was in one piece, and no assembly was required. I haven't noticed any performance downsides. Here's the proof.

Oh jeez, this is going to open the flood gates for people running to the dealers for this. I know my car makes noises under 15-20*. I doubt they will look at my car with a RSB on though.

I don't get this particular squeaking (the low-speed turn pop, yes), but I have an aftermarket RSB. Wondering if it was necessary for them to replace bushings on both bars.

I get it in both front and rear, so I think if the bushings were the problem then replacing them for both bars would fix it.

I will wait for an update before I run over to the dealer. I wonder if this is a new bushing or just the replacing it with the same part# that was in there.

I brought my car in at 8 and they had the bushings replaced by noon. I picked the car up after work.

The creaking was super loud for me and was coming from both front and rear. It was sorround sound creaking!

Same here, it sounds like shearing metal it's so loud. I'll have to stop in and see if I can get them to perform the same thing.

But were the stock bushings really worn out? I mean we all have this same issue in cold weather even when my car has less than 10k miles and is less than a year old.

I don't get how replacing a set of new bushings with another set of the same new bushings fixes the problem.

They weren't worn out, just whatever part # they use on the assembly line is noisy in cold weather. I'm sure they are fine for warm weather conditions. However a Mazda that crunches about all the time makes Mazda look bad, so it should be in their best interest to replace the noisy bushings with ones that handle cold weather without being noisy.

Made an appointment for Monday for an oil change and to get these bushings looked at also. I'll report back once I know.

There has not been an update to the bushings. So these "cold weather" bushings you are all trying to make your dealers install will just make the same noise. It's a high performance vehicle with high performance suspension. You don't like or want your car to squeak? Buy a regular 3.

So does this mean my car will be ready today since no bushings need to be replaced? LOL. Just when I thought I'd have a pimp CX9 for a day. . .

Then my dealer secretly replaced my entire car with a regular 3? Oh noes! All my HP's are gone!

update: -15 today, no squeeks. And I think I still has a turbochargers. So yes, the replacement bushings exist and no, they don't make the same noise.

Like I said in another thread I've been through this before with my MSP and they actually did have updated bushings which they replaced several times over the years and it still came back. That's why I'm not even going to bother because you'll be happy for a while and then suddenly creak creak.

Yah, slo03.5msp is the tech at my dealer, has a MSP so he knows all about suspension noise. I had to take it in for an oil change and a few other minor things, so I figured why not mention it.

You want to hear squeaks you all are more than welcome to come drive my car when it's -15 out. blue-sun i am going to pull the sway bar and grease the bushings and see if that takes care of it. I will replace them if need be i just wanted to let everyone know that there is no updated bushing. So don't start calling your dealers asking for one.

This didn't meet with much agreement over on msf, but I'll throw it out there again; see if I get beat up.

I'm almost certain that this noise comes from relative motion between the bushing and the bracket that holds the whole thing onto the subframe. The bushing itself is most likely bonded to the bar (no relative motion there), and the bracket is tight enough that the bushing isn't supposed to move inside of it, but in the cold it can. If they actually have a replacement part, it might be a slightly larger bushing so that it's squeezed more securely by the bracket, but in my experience this may/may not solve the issue. The solution would be to bond the bracket to the bushing too to eliminate any relative motion between them. I'm looking into the best stuff to use to do this.

I've got a cobb rear sway bar and the car still makes all kinds of noises below 15*, maybe its the front only but who knows. Finally got into the 20s and its 32 now so no unusual noises.
