dealer charged $45 for my oil change...

Wow... I mean really? I guess teenagers have less to worry about, so paying a fortune for oil is acceptable.

Can't say I was different... If you aren't a teenager, then please don't call people idiots for stating a fact.

First of all I am not a teenager; second of all i do my own oil changes so i dont pay a fortune for them; and third of all you are not stating facts, all oil is not the same

That's fine, I don't want to argue, but regular oil is regular oil. As I stated above they did use a synthetic blend, which mazda recommends for the first 10k miles. I understand that, but wish they could have explained it to me.

There is still no reason to call anyone an idiot... I hope you are sorry and take it back sir. (kiss)

Ooo also found out there is no disposable filter either... "MZR engine so it uses the replaceable cartridge not a throw away filter."

so you would argue that walmart oil is the same as valvoline? if so, i do not take back my previous statement

I mean, I don't think there is a walmart brand oil... At least not to my knowlege, but yes if they had their own oil. Just go to your local grocery store and note that the store brand stuff is alot cheaper, but is still the same product.

We could go back and forth all night long, I just don't appreciate being called an idiot on the internet... Especially from someone I don't even know.

I take back being upset about the price of the oil change, since it has upset alot of people... Please do not hold it against me, but I feel a simple run of the mill oil change should not cost more than $30 bucks. I will stop (deadhorse

i dont think it should cost more than $30 either, but you were at a stealership

and i am mainly arguing that not all oil is the same

You probably got a safety inspection too and maybe not Syn but, a blend. In any case an oil & filter change using 5 or 6 quarts of MC oil is not a ripoff at all. I can't get upset if I ask for an oil change without asking how much first. Your fault in any case.

Do you go to Sam Galloway here in Fort myers?

My wife took her CX7 to Jiffy Lube (against my will) and spent $42 on an oil change. $45 from the dealer is a great price!

i put synthenic in my MSP. it cost $70 and im not complaining. and im 17..lol

$70...I just stock up on the Royal Purple full synthetic at Auto Zone when it goes on sale...5 quarts/Mobile1 extended filter for $25...I think ALL you guys are paying to much...

I made the mistake of taking my MSP to jiffy lube(couldn't get it in anywhere else that day) and was charged 43 bucks! They didn't even put the ******* drain pan plug in correctly! Yes you read that right... about 1.3k miles later the drain pan plug was well, not even finger tight. I have no idea how it didnt fall out going down the road!

Thats cheating! lol

Actually the guy has a point that 'oil is oil.'

I know for a fact that almost all oil brands get their oil from the same exact manufacturer, then just put it in their bottle with their label. That is a fact. If you think I'm wrong do the research yourself, and please don't call someone stupid for saying that, because he is right, and you are not.

Now there is a difference from blend to blend, but about 80% of motor oil in America comes from the same manufacturer. Also, just to note, Wal Mart has Royal Purple now, or they did, and one of my inside sources tell me they have changed their oil composition quite a bit, and it is not the same quality that we are assuming we are getting.

ENEOS or nothin now.

I hear you on that one. I generally do my own oil changes but the 3rd party warrenty requires be to have that little peice of paper from oil change shops, and not a peice of paper stating when I purchased the oil and oil filter. (screwy)

yeah, I've never seen one of those lol and quite frankly have no idea what your talking about lol

To mgmarsh39: Sam Galloway is my dealer for all warranty service but, I do all oil changes and other minor stuff. Ed

I dont know what the warranty is like, but I know some car makers request you take the car to the dealer for minor service things, but if the warranty didnt require it and you could DIY, why wouldnt you just DIY?
