What have you done to your P5 today?

what's normal oil operating temps and pressure? I'm getting 252 degrees and idle at 14 psi and cruise at 45 psi

also, when i idle, engine coolant temps spike to nearly 250 as well. I am doing an oil change and coolant flush tonight to see if it helps. i'll also check the plugs

Both my AEM oil pressure and temperature gauges are fitted into a sandwich plate under the oil filter. Under normal driving conditions I'll see a maximum of around 200 deg F for a temperature and I idle between 22-24 psi with the oil topped off. If I'm driving 60+ mph for an extended period of time I've seen oil temps upwards of 240 deg F but once I slow down they quickly drop to ~230 deg F. Also, after I've burned off a fair amount of oil the pressure at idle is typically around 20 psi. Oil pressure while cruising varies greatly. When I'm above 3000 RPM my oil pressure is typically oscillating around 60 psi.

On another note, I'm getting some vibration from my steering wheel. I'm pretty certain one or more of my wheels are bent and I know I need an alignment badly. I just really want to know what this scraping/rubbing sound is!

no oil temp guage here...my oil psi at cold start is 60psi+, running at 65mph cruising along 50psi, at idle 20psi

engine coolant is never above 209....250 seems pretty hight ot me?(nervous)

Yeah, i am gettin oil temps cruising of 250, idle 240

Coolant temps about 200 or so cruising, but idle (even with 50 degree weather outside) spiking to 250

Oil pressure WAS on startup around 90-100psi and cruising 40-60 with idle around 20

NOW it is cold startup at 60 idle at 10 and cruising at 40. When turning left, it drops to nearly 0 psi and right turns at 10 (and oil is dead center on teh dip stick

WTF is going on with my car?

Ah! A ray of sunlight through the clouds!!

No shrouds on em yet

Hmm, that definitely sounds like a low oil issue. When this happened to me I was halfway into a 5 hour drive before I noticed it. I limped slowly to my destination and found that the dipstick was bare! When are you checking the oil level - left the car sit for a few minutes before checking it. I believe the FSM states that proper oil-checking procedure is to bring the car to operating temperature and then shut it off and let it cool for 5 minutes before checking. I suppose worst-case scenarios are a clogged oil pickup or faulty oil pump. I'd check the connection on your pressure gauge as well.

I'll check teh connection, but, that wouldn't also cause oil temp and coolant temp gauges to go faulty too. Something is up.

I'll check it again after lunch and let it settle 5 minutes.

I'll bet your thermostat is going out because there is no way you should be that high. I would guess that could also effect the oil temp and pressure.

I"m scared to death to see what is gonna happen when the temps actually do come back up again into the 80's, 90's and up

I really want to get another AEM temperature gauge and use it as a water temp gauge. I just can't justify spending that kind of money when my car already has that gauge though. Inaccurate or not, I know where the needle should be and as long as it stays there I suppose everything is fine. I'm running out of places to put gauges anyway...

I'm running the water temp, and, after i overheated while the stock gauge said i was A-OK, i had to get an aftermarket gauges. I was at 250 and the stock gauge still read dead center that i was cool

and you can never run out of places. A-pillar, Forcefeds dual cluster pod, dual steering wheel pod, triple gauges in the radio DIN......

Are you losing coolant smell coolant? Burning oil? We all probably know the oil system in our car is not so good...reason Doc B had to come up with a solution. I haven't seen any real problems with an na pro but it's probably just that you have too many gauges!!

(confused)

Yeah, too many gaugse. lol. Did you see month before lasts MOTM? lol

Gonna run the car to the mechanic tomorrow. Leave it with him to go through tomorrow

I'll check fluids today to make sure i'm ok. But, we'll see how it goes

Interesting, you overheated and the gauge was reading normal? Perhaps that problem never really went away?

LOL, as for gauges, I already have 5: oil pressure, oil temperature, boost, wideband O2 and voltmeter. I want to ditch/hide the voltmeter as it really isn't necessary for everyday (would be neat to hide it in the glovebox). Other gauges I'd consider: water temperature and EGT are really all I can think of.

I didn't overheat yesterday. This just started yesterday with the engine coolant temp jumping.

I overheated when I got the car back from the Mazda dealer getting a new intake manifold pu in. Geniuses there didn't reattach the hoses so i sprayed all my engine coolant all over the engine bay

Warranty work. I was in the window for the intake mani recall

Fortunatly, whatever is going on with the car, i have the 2 year warranty on the car with a year left, so, it'll cost me $100 for my deductable for whatever is going onn now

Ah, makes sense the gauge didn't read hot then. How can it read hot when there isn't any hot coolant travelling past it, LOL!
