P0453 evap code after rear ended

Hello, in a predicament with my 2014 3 i gt hatch after rear ended parked by a hit n run. Caught the entire thing on video luckily and got covered for all damages.

Vehicle is returned with a CEL p0453. 52k miles, babied most of its life. The dealer made the situation worse with a service writer that returned with first a purge valve diagnosis, then a bad canister. When asked about canister being cracked, says it’s internal… after taking my $180 and not satisfying the claims agent.

I know how the process looks to r&r the canister. I don’t have access to a lift but could pull it off. Won’t be fun. If the canister is physically cracked the insurance will pay for it. If it’s elsewhere I’m most likely paying or and installing myself. Purge valve is under the hood from what I understand. Translating the service writer’s comments, it sounds like they smoke tested it, found no leaks from canister, said it was the purge valve. Then the writer comes out and tells me it’s the canister, which he tested? By sending it power…

The car is going back for a comeback after phone fun. Just figured I’d post up, assuming this next inspection will provide me more nubbery. Any help appreciated.
