2008 Mazda5 5MT Sport w/ Popular Package
I was cleaning the 08 this morning and took of the car seat off to perform some diligent vacuuming of toddler's left-overs (cracker crumbs, grass, you name it). Since I bought it I never cared to lift the seat bottom but to my surprise this one has a table/tray!

Yes, all Tourings and Grand Tourings have it, but this is a Sport with Pop Equipment Package, same as my 06, yet the 06 does not have the table, just the "storage space"

So, if you manage to find an 08 or 09 Sport with PEP, the table is included I suppose

Nice little Easter egg to say the least. I wish I would take the bumper down one of these days and find the fogs hidden, but naaah, that is not happening

I never cared before for it, but now my wife says she likes the extra cupholders and may find a good use for the rest of the things included...

Not just PEP, all Sports have it. The sales guy made a point of showing me this when I first looked at my MZ5 Sport 5MT.

Yeah, I saw the specs now (braindead . When I bought the 08 it was pretty late at night and they priced the trade-in in 15 minutes, they said how much they would pay and started signing papers, then checked that everything was OK and the car was prepared (wax, wash, gas), then changed the car seat from trade-in to Mazda5 and drove-off. Feature check and test-drive was a little bit redundant after driving the 06 for 2+ years...

I've taken-off the car seat several times but never really cared to open the seat bottom until now, LOL

but you'll be surprise.. i work at mazda.. i've seen base model mazda 3 with a 6 disc cd changer, and a base GT mazda 3 with chrome door handles.. lol

we were all looking at the car going wat the hell??? it's not luxury package.. why is there chrome door handles.. and the car is black.. so it stands out very nicely... the car was off our lot in like 3 days

For my Cdn Mazda 08 GS what would....

...this table/tray cost at Mazda? I can't seem to find it on the web yet. I think it looks great and need it for the 2nd row. Thanks!

i bought a spare one for my next project. JDM style center seat. don't all mazda5s have these tables?

yeah second row air would have been nice, but i do like my brown leather and pop up nav screen. cest le vie

Yep - bottom of the line '08 (Sport) and onward - go figure. (I still am shocked at how much stuff - that I personally consider mid-line and top of the line are found in the Mz5 Sport - 17" alloy wheels, auto-climate control, the tray/table, MP3 Aux jack, etc.)

The table was a really big selling point to my kids (once I had brought the car home.) They enjoy playing cards on it, in addition to it holding their drinks. And don't forget that the table surface clicks out and there's netting underneath that can hold additional stuff. (Although don't leave too much stuff in the netting and then try to fold the table back into the seat - it won't fit.) The table is best when we're in "4 person mode" - it seriously gets in the way when you use the last row for people (getting in and out.) All in all, it's great!

This is the reason we decided on our sport. All the options we wanted/needed were there. The wife did not care about most of the options the Touring and GT added. The leather-wrapped wheel was the only thing she wanted that didn't come on our sport. Me... I wanted the LED taillights and halogens, but they weren't worth the extra cash. And I'm not driving it anyway.
