I just bought a Cobb SRI off of Craigslist for $175 shipped from Hawaii. Can't wait till it gets here. Only downfall is that it doesn't have the mounting bracket. How important is it? Do you think I can make my own? I have some 16 gauge sheet metal sitting around.

You can probably fab something up if you're used to working with sheet metal. 16 ga might be a bit thin, though. Offhand I don't know of any other way to support the filter assembly.

its pretty important dude. no way to support the filter without it lol

You can definitely make your own and probably make it better. Post up whatever solution you come up with. You don't want to leave it flopping around since it could reduce the life of your MAF and set you back a few buck. CP-e says they're gonna try to mount their new SRI to the engine if possible to reduce the stress during hard acceleration. You might want to follow their lead.

I'll sell you mine for $50.00

your 16 guage metal should work, just wait til it arrives and makeshift it. I did it on my 350z with some metal wiring after the bracket broke off the side of it. Or angle the curved part of the tube downwards a bit and the filter will probably balance/sit on something below it

BTW, I installed my Cobb... This thing rocks!!! Pulls a lot harder now and sounds badass with the Forge BPV

people have used the intake without the bracket. and there are quite a few people who have that bracket break a part of the car off rendering it useless. so it will move but it can survive without it.

Your mods are exactly what I've done so far but I added the shifter bushings recently and a test pipe goes on tomorrow. These mods are in my opinion the best bang for the buck. The Cobb with Forge is loud and will always ensure you can pick a fight when you hiss on the right car. I pissed off an Evo driver just yesterday when I went by him in high boost and let off next to his open window. I think I startled him because he looked pissed. He was gettin in the turning lane and I went straight. My guess is he will be on the hunt for me.

I believe these mods have transformed the car very nicely. I just noticed usually when I shift, its always as I'm passing by someones open window. I feel bad now. My next mod will be the RPMC turbo inlet ceramic coated black. Trying to keep the under hood mods sleeperish I guess.

How do you like the shifter bushings?

I got the mazda3mod shifter bushings for $20 shipped. It does tighten up the shifter for a more crisp feeling when shifting. I try not to hiss on minivans and such but sometimes it can't be helped. I never miss an opportunity to hiss on SRT-4's or BMW's. I hissed on a SRT-4 the other day and he hissed back, sounded like a cat fight.

When I'm driving my miata, I don't hiss at cars, I screeh very loudly. Unthrottled supercharger with a Bov welded to outlet manifold. Now thats loud!!! See here

I might have to look into those bushings or just shave down the original ones.

Just go to Lowes or Home Depot and get yourself a piece of 1/2" aluminum stock. Bend it yourself in a vice and drill a hole on either side.

Dude, I've never seen a roots style blower with a blow-off valve tapped onto it. Pretty cool. I had a Jackson kit on my '99 Miata back in the day.
