2009 ms3

the canada price drops, are probably a response to the dollar falling in value, so they want the prices to match up better.

I think they have production run over and are going to have 08.5 MS3's coming in and have to label them 09's. It is almost Aug. I would think we would know by now either way for sure.

2009 Ms3

I've been looking at the 2008.5 MS3s for a few months now and I've been working with a dealer in my area over email. From their email earlier today

We've got one on the water headed this way; should be here the end of
August. It's a White/Black-GT. MSRP-$25,325.00

He later said that his GM said there were no major changes for the 2009s

i highly doubt that Mazda is going to change the trend of running mazdaspeed series more than 2 years but yo never know...

my gut tells me that this is the truth, but I bet that they will not go public with that information. It is no rumor that the 3 is up for a design change so the ms3 will not be around much longer. even if it does make a run into 2009, with the design changing so soon, i cant see them making any mechanical or visual changes

you also got to remember whith the precedence of two years most of those coars the last year to the last half of that modle year the dealers were having problem selling them. with the speed 3 still selling geed they might run it a little longer. and its we only get the speeds for 2 years. they were still produced before and after in japan.

then again... it wouldn't make sense for them to have changed things for the 08.5 either.

I agree that the continued production has to do with the AMAZINGLY POSITIVE PRESS AND HIGH SELLING PRICE. If you look at the previous cars, the MSP was being given away at $5k less than msrp, the miata was discounted $3000, the MS6 has been discounted well over $5,000, but the MS3 continues to sell easily without high markdowns. In this era of car makers begging for sales, any car that is selling well without major discounts should continue with production.

i dunno, producing an year.5 model is fairly typical for mazda with end of production cars. both the p5 and msp had half year model upgrades right before the protege was phased out for the 3. ms6 was stopped in 07 to make way for the new gen of the 6's.

Im not saying I know one way or the other, but it seems to me that all signs are pointing for the 08.5 to be the last update of the ms3 before the car is next-gen 3 is introduced.

yeah. i understand what you're saying. i just think it's a waste of money for them to introduce design changes for half a model year.
some completely remodeled, new gen cars only have slight upgrades.

it may be a bigger waste of money for them to change things right before introducing a major redesigned 3. i don't think they should or will change anything for the 2009 mazdaspeed3.

I also believe this will probably be the last revision for this car until it does get discontinued when the new Mazda 3 is introduced for model year 10..or 11 or whatever.

That said, I was a bit puzzled that the general consensus was that this car was going to be discontinued for MY 09. Here in Mxico where the car went on sale at the end of May there has been a fair amount of publicity featuring the car, and also the disclaimer that only 300 were going to be sold in the country(or only 150 according to other sources). It seemed like an exessive amount of money/energies spent to position the car and to get it's identity known just to sell 300 cars at average market price for one year.

But as far as I care, they can stop building them for my09. The resale value over here for this car will be insane /evilaugh

Yeah, we gotta kinda remember that this is still speculation until we see an actual spec sheet. I find it hard to believe that Mazda would ditch our engine for a 5 cylinder that was developed by Ford (most likely Volvo as well, seeing as they have been doing 5 cylinder turbo's for years).

It looks like 2009 will have a speed3 and we'll see what 2010 brings . . .

when the 07 ms3 was first introduced, it was rumored to have the same engine as the volvo s40 t5

not saying ur source isnt credible, but these rumors are all starting to sound the same as what we all speculated about before

the new C30's have the T5 motor in them too. tuned to just under 230hp on them i think. not a bad motor IMO.
