BMW M3 ALMS Racecar

mommy...

Sweet haysoos christo....!!! -this brings back many fond memories of the E46 M3 GTR Racecar in Gran Turismo 4. This is one FINE peice of art, i just hope I get to see it in action like i did the E46 GTR Race Car

So wheres the performance figures :) i demand 0-60, 0-100, 1/4mi, and Slalom times :)

Bravo BMW, you took an already beautiful car and made it into an absolute monster of a machine :) I will take it off their hands when they retire it :)

Alright i just did some searching...

A couple key points:

HP: 475
Torque: 365ft/lb

American Lemans GT2 Class

Competition:

Aston Martin Vantage GT2
Ferrari F430 GT
Porsche 911 GT3 RSR
Corvette C6
Panoz Esperante GTLM
Dodge Viper Competition Coupe
Ford GT-R

All I have to say is Good luck BMW you have some rediculous competition in the GT2 class

^Well I was just at Lime Rock Park for the ALMS this past weekend. And every team I chatted with are worried about this car.

On a side note they are all worried about the Nissan GT-R GT 500, Nissan is looking at running next year in GT2. The GT 500 has dominated the JGTC.

When does the M3 make it's debut? i can't find it on the ALMS website (information pertaining to their debut that is)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention i find it amusing that the Owner of the team, Rahal, fielded a Porsche in the 2007 Season :) I find it amusing that he hopped ship from the GT3 to the M3 LOL

I was wondering when they would bring the GTR in.

VIDEO: E92 BMW M3 racer rolls out to the track

Holly mother of all bratwursts

The previous generation M3 had a short but dominant history in the American Le Mans Series. Competing in the 2001 season with a 4.0-liter V8, the M3 GTR decimated the GT (now GT2) class. Porsche cried foul, citing a lack of an "authentic" V8-powered M3 production car. Despite a small run of V8 M3s to satisfy regulations, the ALMS changed the rules so that BMW had to either produce 1000 road cars or face weight and intake restrictions. BMW decided it wasn't worth it and didn't return for the 2002 season. But with introduction of the E92 M3, BMW is free to race with a V8 unrestricted and announced their racing program in cooperation with Rahal Letterman Racing, as well as unveiling a new racecar at the Chicago Auto Show this year. We haven't heard much about the car since then, but BMW Motorsport released a video showing some pretty awesome footage of the car on track. It's design is aggressively beautiful, and we can't wait to see it rub fenders with Porsche and Ferrari next year in GT2.
