Ecu Wtf?

I got my Speed3 a little over a month ago. About a week after I got, I almost stalled but caught it but it threw a CEL. It seemed kind of sluggish the rest of the way to the in-laws. When I got there, I unplugged the negative battery cable to rest the ECU. When driving home later, the cel was gone but it ran like crap. It was hesitating & spuddering a lot in low gears/low rpms. It pissed me off bad having only had it a week. After the 25 mile freeway trip home, it was fine and I never had the problem again until tonight. I was about to install my Ipod adaptor so I disconnected the neg battery terminal. Later, after reconnecting the battery and driving home it was doing the same sputtering and hesitating. Once again, after getting off the freeway, it seemed fine getting home taking the long way(uhm)

So, I hope its fine tomorrow ... Is the ECU on our cars overly sensitive or do I need some kind of reflash from the dealer. I would go take it to them but its a far drive and they are only open when I am at work. I'll take off work if I have to, but its definitely not what I expected from a new unmoddded car.

It might be good to go to your auto parts store and have them check the code and read it. Most stores are free for this or go to Mazda. I would suggest that something could be wrong and if you have a code see what it might be. The battery restart thing is overrated imo. There are issues that can be resolved by dealer. good luck!

Thanks ... the cel hasn't come back yet. I'll be getting a Dashhawk soon so I'll read anything that may pop up again. It seemed to drive fine today, but I'm still going to call the dealership tomorrow.

Still running ok, but I called Mazda anyways. The guy took my VIN and said there is nothing needed for it. I guess I'll have to take the TSB down to them if it acts up again.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but they should be able to look at the history on the codes. I do not think you need light on when you show up. Bear in mind Mazda will want a reason why you need a flash and a code might provide that. Have them check it out at your oil change! Dashhawk, very good choice from what I hear and read!
