2007 MS3 CBlue
Hi Mazdaforum family. just got the speed 3 about 2 weeks ago. (former ride was a Mazda 3S Hatch) and im thinking about to get a CAI. but i cant really make up my mind between all these CAI that u guys have been talking about. (thinking about injen, cobb, MSP)
really apreciate if anyone could help me to find the right CAI.
Best regards.

How is Mazda going to track the name Sivarspeed to a single person/car without any photos or other information given?

Either the Cobb sri or a MS cai..The Cobb is cheaper in price but on back order everywhere.I would lean more towards the Cobb but I dont have any problems with my MS cai and I dont have to remove it for dealer work.

I just put my injen cold air intake on a few days ago and it definately made a difference, and its sounds amazing! The stock BOV is soo much louder now..

I got the hydroshield pre filter for it because I drive my MS3 daily and live in CT ((we get alot of rain))

I was thinking about getting the COBB SRI but they were backordered 3 weeks, and I couldn't wait... lol :)

+1 for the cobb i love mine lol, and my dealer told me that if u change the intake then it just voids the warranty for the intake not for the entire engine the only way it voids the warranty for the entire engine is if something happen because of the intake. i had my motor blow up when it was completely stock. and they dont say anything about the intake.

cobb sri FTW!

do it.

install less than an hour.

replace to factory less than an hour.

no brainer.

Thx a lot for helping. the way i see is the Cobb CAI could be less complicated to install and since its short it wont get wet. between MS and Injen CAI they got colder air but theres more risk to get wet. and dont know how effective could be the hydroshiled ...

Cobb 3
Injen 1
MS 2

They dont get wet!

Where are people coming up with the CAI getting wet? There is a plastic shield under the car and in the wheel well so there is no way to get water on it unless you drive in a river or open the hood and put a hose down there.

Its a retarded at best attempt to consider a intake which draws hot engine bay air as being better then a CAI which "could" get wet. Since it doesnt get wet I will take the cold air despite theory of each being equal in power. Nobody is going to convince me ever that hot engine air is a better choice but if they convince you then go for the SRI, lol.

PS I do live in Cali so there are no monsoons here and perhaps only then would I ever see how enough water would ever get near that filter. You would also like to note that the MS CAI AEM dry flow filter is synthetic and repels water on its own which means no need for a prefilter sock like the Injen type.

unless you driving the car face first into a foot deep of water, the REAL chance of hydrolock is very very negligible. i live near the great lakes and even in the worst rain, sleet, snow and slush i have never sucked any amount of water into the intake. there will always be people who disagree, and thats fine, but my own personal experience is such that you will not have a problem running a cold air intake.

an alternative to the Cobb SRI is the BEGi Air Box which we sell on the site

Ive been keeping an eye on my intake temps with my SRI. The temps range from 4-12 degrees warmer than outside air while moving.

If the CAI is pulling in outside air temps, I dont see 4-12* making much more power, if any, especially once it goes through the IC.

Crazy idea I had... I noticed they make an AutoExe Ram Air Intake System but its expensive as hell. What are the chances of just getting the plastic "ram air" part that takes in more fresh air through the grill and feeding that to a Cobb SRI?

+1

CAI is a waste when you can get a cobb sri for less money and achieve the same #'s
