is there something wrong with nav??

I got mine ('07) for about 2 grand less than a brand new sport with NAV and any other option that was offered.

i've actually been curious to see how many Black Mica GT's w/ Nav are out there. it cant be many at all. I'll just consider myself privledged.

but the nav is kinda worthless IMO you cant do anything (ie modify trip destinations) unless you are at a standstill. and the controls are in a terrible spot (on the right side of the shifter).

ohh well, it still turns heads when it pops up with the mazda screen!

& the control location would drive me nuts... my cellphone & iPod live in that little slot next to the shifter.

I have the nav and I keep the screen down most of the time. I popped the screen up the otehr day to see where a street was and my girlfriend was like "oh yeah, you have navigation." I do wish there was somewhere to put a cellphone. I usually end up putting it in the top part of the center console and missing 100 calls while I'm in the car. ok not 100. ok fine, none.

I love the stock unit. my only complaint is that it doesn't mute the stereo enough when the lady is talking. it just sounds like my driver side front speaker is cutting out. I actually thought I was going to have to take it in until I figured out she was just giving me directions that I couldn't hear because the rest of the speakers were still on full blast.

i think the lady is a little pushy. should could at least say 'Please make a U-turn' when i f*ck up and miss my turn

the navigation has the whole track in the picture at the place I go to. I can be racing down the strip and still be following directions!

i dont get pushy with her when she leads me to an area that is too new to be shown on the map. should i buy her flowers to chear her up?

Does it use a little picture of your car (same color and everything) on the OEM nav? that would be sweet.

no picture of the car, but its in the same spot every time so i guess i could just take a picture of my car from above and tape it to my screen.

or would that be too ghetto?

Take that picture from the front next time. The way the wheels are turned the car would look much better from that angle than from the back.

there were cars coming so i just got out and set the shot up. wasnt till i got inside and saw the pic when i noticed my wheel turned.

i have a pioneer s2 navigation i used it maybe 4 times in the past year and 3 of the times it did not show me the right way... my 2 main navi systems i use is google maps and the compass is my perfered choice to get anywhere... i always end up finding were to go but i am horrible at giving directions... my s2 will throw me at least 5 miles off course... so i pretty much sed f-it... sits in my glove box with a dead battery and im too lazy to take it out...
