How do I install the OEM input switch box (P/N TD1379CFZ)? What does it look like?

I bought my MPS 3 back in November and it came with Sirius. I later discovered I needed this part to use the AUX jack. My dealers finally got me the splitter after waiting for 6 damn months. (I'm never buying from them again and I'm actively recommending no one else does.) I thought they were going to install it for me but they didn't so I said **** it I'll just install it myself.

I read the instructions for removing my head unit, which I did and now I'm sitting here staring at a bunch of wires and none of them are really jumping out at me for where the hell I'm supposed to hook this thing up. I'm not terribly certain it's even the right part from looking at it. It says "Sirius Splitter" and that it's made from Sanyo. Has a green part labeled SAT and a white part labeled TER. A bit of help please? Or at least let me know this is the right thing so I don't call my dealer and chew him out again.

The only thing I know, is that where the sirius hooks up, the aux jack does too. It should have a plug. Since this is a splitter, you probbaly have to unplug the sirius, plug in the splitter, plug the sirius into the splitter, as well as the aux jack wire.I could be completely wrong, I've never seen one of these. But I hope that helps.
If thats obvious information you already knew, I apologize.

PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you Mazda's pdf instructions for installing the switchbox. Really their way is super overly complicated and you don't really have to follow it, but they do provide some pictures and an idea of how things are supposed to work.

Pared down to essentials there are three ports on the switchbox. One port is the output from the switchbox to the port on the back of the HU (where the sirius or ACI is plugged in now). The other two are the inputs for your other modules/devices. One of the ports works only with the ACI, and the other one will work with sirius/ipod adapter/phatbox. Once you've plugged it up and tested it you can go about mounting it. Pretty much you can stick it anywhere that it won't rattle around and will fit.... there's a good amount of space behind the HU, or you can mount it in the OE location. As to whether or not you have the correct part it should be P/N TD1379CFZ.

It's infuriating because there is only two options, either hey are clueless and complete idiots, or they did this to me on purpose because they are malicious assholes. Either way it's getting extremely frustrating.

E-mail's on the way. Really from the pictures they've sent you that is absolutely not the correct part. This is what the Mz3 switchbox looks like unless there have been some changes. Really I can't see how it's the correct part since none of the connectors match up.

Note the correct p/n on both the module and the box.

How much did your dealer charge you for the switchbox? Where are you located.... guessing not the US since you have a MPS. :lol: If you were around here I'd recommend you ordering from www.onlinemazdaparts.com as they have fantastic service.

I'm in the US; it's actually a Speed3 but I call it MPS sometimes out of habbit.

They didn't charge me anything for it. It was something they owed me from day 1. The guy that sold me the car said the Aux jack would work and when it didn't I convinced them that it was their problem and they should therefore fix it free, which they said they'd do only here I am 6 months later with a gimpy part.

I think I'm going to call them tomorrow and insist they supply and install the part and pay for the god damn gas I had to waste to get there (cause the mazda dealer is like 65 miles from me.) and if that doesn't work I'll call Mazda USA directly. This is really beyond ridiculous. I've never experienced customer service this poor anywhere in my entire life, or at least it's been so long since I have that I can't remember

My free subscription to Sirius is almost up. If I decide to say **** it cause this isn't worth the effort how do I swap the cable so it will just do the aux?

They gave you the wrong thing. The Sirius Splitter goes between the antenna and the Sirius receiver, nothing to do with the AUX port. If your Sirius is working, you already have one and don't need another.

Rotus, Why would you need the splitter showed for the sirius antenna? The antenna just runs straight to the receiver.... and if memory serves doesn't have a connector like that anyway.

The receiver (at least the receiver I have) has two antenna connections marked SAT and TER. I think it has something to do with Sirius having two bands, one for direct satellite transmission and one for "terrestrial" which I think is for repeaters in cities. Anyway, that box is a splitter that delivers the signal from the antenna to both connectors.

My Sirus is about to expire and I'm trying to decide if I want to renew or not. Where would the AUX cable be located behind the dash so I can swap them out if I decide not to use sirius? I tried looking when I had it out last week but I couldn't see anything.

^^ When they install the sirius they usually tie off the ACI cable to one of the other cables behind the HU to keep it from rattling around. If you look around for a minute or two you should be able to find it.

I'm going to pop the thing later tonight and give it a go. I figure if I can find it I'll swap it out, live without Sirius for a while and see if I miss it. I can always resubscribe without much effort right?

So I just got done poping the head unit out again and after a bit of searching I found the aux connector and swapped them out. I'm going to call my dealer to give them a chance to correct the mistake they made and see if they'll give me the switchbox. Otherwise I'm going to be riding without Sirius until I decide otherwise.

If you do remember there are always forum members wanting to buy the sirius receiver for cheaper than the $305 dealer price. Maybe you could make some money back.
